What Jen said. That is exactly right; we are not paying for the "full, real cost" of fuel consumption. I also was driving a Big Wheel in 1970.

I think I was driving a Big Wheel too. I remember my sister bought a new Mercury Cougar in '68 and Marathon gas was $.32 a gallon. Now it goes up $.30 - $.40 a gallon and then takes all week to go down $.10 - $.15 a gallon.

Adjusted for inflation, my income today is 50% less than 1987, and I'm still working. If my income were the same in real dollars, I would already own a new Casita and tow vehicle. LOL!!

My tough luck. But I'm saving my meager income for that Casita. I'm glad I have always been easy to please.
