Fuel price increases are ALWAYS a major PAIN, but I CAN'T let that stop me from going wherever I need/want to go.

Our prices here in B.C. Canada have almost always been the highest in all Canada (except for some far away places in remote areas), with todays 'latest' increase bringing our (regular) gas to $1.06/ L here in the lower mainland of B.C.

I forget (just now) the conversion factor, but I think thats up over $4.00/gal

I was doing some planning this evening for a trip to Alaska this summer. I still have one grandson that is to young to be into cars and girls and thinks camping with gramps is still fun.
I figure the trip will be conservatively 7500 miles. Figuring 18 mpg and $3.75 a gallon for fuel. That is over $1,600.00 just for fuel.
I have always wanted to go to Alaska but like others maybe I will plan a trip closer to home.

Sigh, I've been watching one particular gas station in my area. The price has risen 50 cents in a bit more than three weeks. Last week, I was out doing some shopping and as I drove past the station, said "self you need to get gas," well didn't listen to that "person" and drove past...thought I'd get it in the morning. Price went up four cents between 9pm and 6am! so yeah, the cheap Arco stations are running about $2.69 a gallon right now. BLAST!

The goverment man on the telly tells us that the prices will fall if everything runs smooth. .......Well it don't.
What with "just in time deliveries", "the two week old rail strike", and"fires at the refinery", it's only going to get worse. The cost of anything made from plastic is rising as well. Even the price of my printer ink is going up
. On the other side, "wow", I did get a 1% increase as a cola adjustment on my pension. And our local branch of politicians can't run things without another 3%.
Better Sell the second vehicle. Bu they, that,s my tow. Guess I'll be camping in the driveway. I'd better stop before I get riled up.

As Red Green says " Hang in there, I'm pullin' for ya. We're all in this together".

Here in the great white north we have had three separate refinery fires.
one 6 months ago, which made only a little bump in the price, one 4 weeks ago, which caused stations to run out of fuel and send prices soaring in Ontario,($1.07 CAD/litre or with all conversions done $3.76 per US gallon) ,they claim this will haunt us through the May long weekend; and last week a fire at a refinery in Alberta. Because of Ontario's limited refining capability this is a major deal, we run hand to mouth on fuel supply.

I have found that owning some oil shares, even a modest amount, takes some of the sting out - both financially and psychologically....

A couple of years ago, I found the Alaska prices to be slightly higher than those in the Left Coast of the Lower 48, but not as high as those in EhLand.

Here's an interesting site where you can put in places and get histories and current prices in USA and CA:

Gas Price History

Christi, indeed there is a summer/winter set of gasoline blends that may vary from area to area to compensate for the changes in the ambient temperatures (and pressures and humidities), just as there are different octane numbers for Regular, etc., at higher altitudes. Even diesel fuels have seasonal blends.

$2.77 here today!
It was [b]$2.85 on Thursday, at the discounted "AutoPort" station on board the 32nd Street Navy Base, when I filled up before this weekend's Camping Trip.
It was [b]$2.99 today (Sunday) at the "AutoPort" on board MCAS Miramar. All of the civillian stations are over $3 (...and I am comparing prices for the cheapest 87 octane grade.)
