I asked this question on the Yahoo Groups site....I have a 13 Scamp with the 6727 series factory ac...is anyone using a 2000 watt gen for this set up? I have a concern that the 34.2 lock rotor amps on start up will be too much for the 2000 gen and I sure don't want to drag along a 4000 watt gen....thanks.

Bob

I have the 6727 in my Scamp 13' and the Honda 2000i generator I bought (and the one virtually everyone else buys to run A/Cs) does an excellent, quiet job of running the A/C and other AC devices.

I think you need to focus on the running watts rating for the A/C which is 1,000-1,280, well within the 2,000+ rating for the Honda.

The Honda, or it's equivalent, is the one you need. http://www.hondapowerequipment.com/ModelDe...delName=eu2000i

Here is a reply that I got from the a/c site.................

The unit runs at 8 amps and the starting surge is 1.5 to 2.5 times that depending on the outside temperature and the length of time between cycles.

Thanks

That would mean that the harshest conditions will be 20 amps x 115 volts =2300watts(2400 if you use 120VAC) and normal is 12 amps x 115VAC = 1380watts----running amps at 8 x 115VAC is 920 watts.....this seems to be the final word on the subject for me....I just need to buy a generator that will fit these numbers, taking into account that I will be camping at higher elevations at times and sometimes at very hot conditions requiring the unit to cycle on often, both of which will require a gen with at least 2400 watts peak ability...thanks to all who "charged" in on this subject......Bob

I always turn mine on to fan for a few seconds then turn on the compressor. No problems even on very hot days.
