I'm heading to the Durango/Silverton area of Colorado. The aspen and shrub are at peak color in Silverton and things are doing that yellow-orange-green turn in the lower els.
I want to capture the choo choo with an autumn backdrop. Will post pics.
Dry camping on Haviland lake near Purgatory... nights in the 20s... Wish me luck.

Egged at Haviland Lake north of Durango. The camp host had gone... no fee. I made the mistake of camping in space number one and had four or five people want to give me a fee.
Nights in the 20s and days mostly raining but had two days of good sun for photos. A few are up here
Colorado trip
The colors are at peak below 10,000 ft.. pretty much gone above that.
Colorado colors cant match Vermont for variety but with the high mountain light they they shine like neon signs... if you have chance visit the southwest corner of CO next year.

The minister at a church I attended 30 years ago loved to ski there.
He liked to announce from the pulpit, "I just got back from Purgatory..."
