Going Over to the Dark Side. Sorta.

With us wanting to find affordable housing in the Montana Oil Patch, we purchased a 30' Jayco 5th wheel. We pick it up tomorrow and are taking it out boondocking this weekend before Greg pulls it to Montana. Unlike our first big fifth wheel "home" in North Dakota this has an aluminum frame so dry rot from winter living won't be an issue and it has heat in the floors. I am still in Iowa but as least I will now be able to visit without renting a motel since I am not allowed in company housing. Don't want the wife/girlfriend moving in. Besides, you would have to be young and in love to endure sleeping in a single bed that shares the room with the washer, dryer and water heater. Very romantic.

Will post pics of our new home away from home soon.

Jayco makes good trailers. I've owned four and all were well built units. Sometimes you have to do what you have to do. Good luck.

With what I have been reading about the oilfields I think in about 2 months worth of work you could retire from the income and move to Florida. Hard honest work to be found there if you can hack it. Good Luck.

Donna: He will need comfort by the time he drags the trailer 800 miles to Eastern Montana. OMG I rode with him bringing it home. Not use to dual axles on rough roads. Now I know why truck drivers have air seats.

Jared: He is in the eastern part about an hour north of Glendive. Sugar beets and oil.

Hopefully the Scamp will come out next Spring so we can go camping. We did that when we lived in our other 5th wheel in Dickinson. Go camping to get away from the camper.

Just talked to my husband. He was just hitting Glendive on his way north to Sidney, MT then will go west to Lambert 20 miles. All I can say is our 2007 Tundra has been one hell of a horse.
