Well after weeks of waiting....my 83 Burro came home today....

They left everything inside including pots and pans...pillows and sleeping bags..

It was very dirty from non use...and the fact it was not mine...so I spent the next 8 hours cleaning and removing items I did not want or need....I rubbed to hard on a screen and tore it..that was my only casusalty

I have several bulbs out ...side lights two..and one of the higher lights..the fixtures seem real brittle so I well check them out on the weekend..

In between I drove around getting the feel of towing and trying to adjust my trailer brakes...

I have only one orig cushion and its in the trash bin...really smells....

I am going to make a new table top this weekend and buy some foam cushion for the front seating area to make into a bed....

Its really cool...the AC takes awhile to cool down but then its awesome....

The door has a large gap at the bottom..I dont know if this is the norm..I put some foam along the base and the door seals perfect now... The outer door rubber is shot and will need to be replaced downthe road....black dust ....

Once cleaned it was really hard to leave....it was calling me.... I still have lots more to do..or I should say want to do...

This weekend I will do a test camp...

Here are a couple pictures..

Congrats, Jim! That's a nice looking Burro! The door gap is not uncommon. Interestingly, most of the Burros from the '80s had all-brown graphics. The green/brown was adopted later on the Escondido Burros... which leads to me to believe that maybe you have much later decals! The taillights are definately an '80s vintage body.

Good luck!

Roger

Let the fun begin!! wooooohoooo and there's still plenty of summer left to enjoy warm weather camping.

Good for you to go out and almost immediately enjoy it. You'll find all kinds of things you want to change to make the Burro uniquely your own.

Oh and Jim, just a thought...but unless that cushion you threw in the trash is perfectly square or perfectly rectangle in shape, you should probably go out and get it and trace it on some paper...even if it's only newspaper taped together. If you need to cut the new foam to fit, you may wish you had that pattern!

Congrats on your Burro from another Burro owner writing from her Treo in her Burro.

My Burro is yelling at me. No wait - might be hubby snoring as he is hogging the dinette bed.

CindyA (Also CindyL - Couldn't get logged in last night - probably the Treo Internet. My Burro pix are under CindyL)
