Not camping...having some friends over for homemade ice cream (recipe below) and a campfire in Paul's new firepit on the terrace (sounds fancy but it's not). Doing all the yard chores we didn't do since Paul retired--and the year he was redoing Peanut...

HAPPY HAPPY TO EVERYONE! SAFE HOLIDAY TO YOU ALL!

BEST

Cinder

Take 1 quart whipping cream and whip it to stiff peaks.

Take 2 cups Karo syrup (clear, light or lite) and add any desired flavorings, such as peppermint or cocoa powder for chocolate and mix well. Then fold into the whipped whipping cream.

Spoon into individual serving dishes and freeze at least 4-5 hours.
(It does freeze up pretty hard--if you freeze it all together you will play merry heck getting servings out of it. But oddly, individually, it's easy enough to eat with a metal spoon.)

It is surprisingly good and doesn't need a special machine or ice or hand cranking.

Bon appetite!

Happy Fourth, all!

Not camping- too crowded- but we spent most of last week camping at a nearby lake. Today I'm finally cleaning up the Scamp before approaching monsoon rains turn the dust to mud.

I generally don't camp during major summer holidays. As Jon says "too crowded" and I'd just as soon leave the campsites open to families.
Before and after are fair game.

Happy Independence Day to all and remember thank a vet for the ability to celebrate this day.

LOL... Given the thread topic, I was so busy looking at the huge flag I almost missed the star (pun intended)!

I applaud the owner for having sense enough to buy his dog some Doggles. That wonderful pet is so busy taking in the smorgasbord of smells, he doesn't realize there is dust, debris, and bugs to damage his eyes. It's up to his human to do that thinking for him.
