Has anyone been in Glacier Nationnal Park recently?

I'm in Alberta and was going to head south thru Glacier for a couple of days. I see they have opened Going to The Sun Road but that they still have three fires active. Does anyone have any information on how the smoke is affecting the park? I checked the campground availability site and saw they were not filling up like they usually do. Sure has been a bad year for our friends in the Northwest! Hoping for relief for everyone soon.

We just left Two Medicine campground and there was some smoke. Most of the trails there are closed. No crowds

Keep in mind that you can't take your Scamp "Thru" Glacier. Going to the Sun Road is always closed to almost all towed rv's.

Jan we have not been up there since July 4th but I can tell you the rest of MT is extremely smoky. Visibility here in SW part of the state for the last several days has been maybe 2-3 miles. We cannot see any of the mountains that rim our valley. Oddly most of the smoke we are getting is not from our own fires within the state. I wouldn't think Glacier especially the west side is fairing much if any better. You could call the park to verify however.

Thanks, I think calling the park is probably the best idea.

We are in Nelson BC this evening and it is not pretty when you can not see the scenery for the smoke.. We have been on Hwy 3 for the past 5 days (we don't travel quickly - we explore) and have only seen the sun as an orange orb the whole time.. Thinking of heading north to find some blue sky again..

Have a look here to see what the smoke is doing..
