At the Oregon Gathering there was a trailer not found in our album section. No, not the Geographic. Leslie and Jim Voelkel of Medford, OR were in site C-63 with a trailer that I had always called a Havasu but they registered it as a Havas. I did not have a chance to talk with them but did take some photos. It's amazing how similar the trailer is to the Compact Jr, Compact II, and the Trails West Campster. Of course, the big difference is the roof but the interior is almost the same. The manufacturer's tag says that it was made in Ontario, CA by the Astro Mfg. Corp. Seems to be separate from Hunter and Trails West. One major difference that I noted close-up is the trailer is constructed of top and bottom halves; not left and right like a Compact. Below is a link to my photos.

The Campster is also top to bottom, and is very similar to the Havas# except, of course, for the hard top.

I did not get a chance to go in that trailer or talk with the owners..

BUT.. I am pretty sure it's a HavaSU and not a Havas. Somewhere along the lines, they lost the "U".

If going strictly by title or registration.. that may be where the problem lies. DMV drops letters, spells things wrong.. in general, makes all kinds of goofs.

When I bought my 17, it was register and titled as a ".urro" Yes, that includes the ".".

I had to bring it into DMV so they could re title it with the correct name by verifying the trailer and documents with it.

It was an original DMV mistake and the first owner never bothered fixing it.

The "Havas" owners may not even know it's really a Havasu. It's a rare trialer, and if they have never run into one before, there is really no way they WOULD know.
