I need help with this 'problem'.
We ordered a 3" foam topper mattress. It arrived in a big roll. Followed instructions for unrolling. Removed plastic cover, set roll on empty dinning room table, to wait until mattress unfolds itself. After several hours we checked on the mattress and noticed a tear/rip, 1 1/2" long and about .25" deep. We have never owned a foam mattress before so ..... do I have a problem???
If this had occurred to a 'foam mattress owners' among you ...... Would you have returned the mattress? Does such a small rip/tear have an effect on the usage of the mattress? Appreciate your opinions.
Thank you.

If I were in a store and noticed that I would ask for a different mattress. Not that I think it's going to actually cause a problem, but just because why have one if it's new.
On the other hand, if it came mail order, or was a hassle to return, I might just live with it. It's not like nylon that's going to keep on ripping, and it will probably be held together with whatever cover you put on.
There is spray glue that you can use to join foam pieces that makes seams nearly un-noticeable, but then that would probably be a pain to have to go get.
So I'd say it's okay to live with, but if you don't want to, or if it's easy to return, you certainly would be within your "rights" to return it (assuming you didn't cause the tear).

Thanks for the input.
I'm not familiar with foam and was worried that the foam might continue to rip. I also like the idea of the spray ....... It could repair the tear.
The mattress was purchased via mail order .... so returning it would be a 'pain'.

Hi Anne - what Raya said However, it IS disappointing to receive damaged merchandise in a mail-order situation. That said, we have a memory foam topper and our Scamp bed is the most comfie we've ever had, so we don't think you'll regret your choice. Regards, L 'n D
