Heading out

We're almost ready to hitch up. We've got food, water, battery power, propane, clothes and bedding. The housesitter is on the way and will take care of everything, including pets, while we are gone.

We are off to try some absolute boondocking at a spot we found a few weeks ago. Maybe it won't be very different from camping at a deserted unserviced site?

We are hoping to catch some photos of migratory birds in this isolated area. A bonus would be for the northern lights to show up - but that doesn't look very likely at the moment.

Enjoy your weekend, whatever you have planned.

Safe travels Hazel, we'll leave the light on for you. And please post pics when you get back!

We are home - and had a great time. The photo taking was quite limited but the weather was wonderful. We had hoped for good sunrise/sunset shots (no luck there, the colours were good but no clouds to give them some punch). We hoped for some northern lights - out of luck again, We did see thousands of Canada Geese, Snow Geese and coots, also numerous varieties of ducks and apparently endless supplies of young warblers and finches. Oh yeah - a bald eagle too.

The area we were in was prairie flat with marshes. I'll try to attach some photos showing our Trillium in the 'campsite', and some typical scenery.

I'm an old coot but you didn't take my picture. But then, I wasn't there, either. Sounds like you had fun.

Old coots are still able to make a splash!
