Trailer: No Trailer Yet

I am new to the forum but I have been spooking around for a little bit.
I am considering a Scamp trailer and I was wondering if anyone can give some help?
I am curious as to what the dimensions of the rear dinette are when it is folded down into a bed? I guess I would like to know the dimensions on the front bunks too, including any weight restrictions on the top bunk.
The only thing I can get from Scamp's site is the interior width is 6'6" if I remember correctly.

The crew I plan on sticking in this is the Wife and I and our two kids that will be 3 and almost 2 when we start camping next year.

If anyone knows or can point me somewhere that can tell me would be a big help.

Thanks,

Tim

Hi Tim and welcome to this forum. I don't own a Scamp but someone else will chime in.

Hi Tim, welcome to FiberglassRV, we're glad you found us.

The Scamp Deluxe (wood interior) has a bed width of 54 inches, the standard is 45 inches. Someone else will answer the bunk weight limitation, it seems to change based on the build year. I took the gaucho out of my Scamp and made a permanent bunk.

Hi Tim, welcome to this forum!

Hurray, another new fiberglass buddy here in Wisconsin! Many fiberglass folks seem to be out West and in Canada... I and my 4-year old daughter are also in the process of getting a fiberglass trailer. We ordered an Escape from Escape Travel Trailers in BC Canada. Unfortunately I cannot answer your question on front bunks in the Scamp, but there are enough people with experience on here! The Scamp and also Casita look very nice!

To elaborate on the Scamp standard "double" bed (I have a Boler 13 which I believe is the same measurements).

The side of the bed facing into the trailer is straight, but the side on the back wall of the trailer is somewhat of a "C" shape. In the middle, the bed is 48" (assuming a 4" thick mattress and that you run the bed right over to the closet/kitchen edges). At the side walls - well, about 6" in from the side walls since the really rounded part of the corner is hard to measure - it's about 41". Halfway between the side wall and the middle (so 1/4 of the way from head to foot), it's 46" wide.

Length (except in the extreme corners at the back), also with a 4" mattress, is just a scoch over 78".

Hope this helps,

Raya

PS: This is with Ensolite walls, which the older Scamps had too. I suppose newer Scamps with the Reflectix/rat fur might be a tiny bit smaller (guessing the walls coverings add up to a hair more).

PPS: Yes, I did just happen to be sitting in my Boler with a tape measure to hand

Wow, thank you all for the info!
I really need to get inside one of these and check it out.
With no dealer network it's hard to see one and I still am wrestling with the idea of getting one with the bathroom or not.
I think the bathroom would be a good addition but the models without also have more room with the side dinette.
I will have to check out those Escape trailers, that's a new one to me.

Thanks again,

Tim

You can call Scamp at 1-800-346-4962 and they will give you phone numbers of owners who are willing to show people their Scamps.

I think all the manufacturers of molded fiberglass trailers have an owners network. It would behoove you to check out all the trailers you can to do a comparison and then make a decision that would work best for you.

I see on the Escape Form someone in Massachusettes is wanting to see an Escape and someone else piped in that they live in Southern Vermont.

This will take you to the Helpful-Links page with all the current manufacturers websites. Be aware Bigfoot is now out of business and Oliver has suspended manufacturing until at least the first of this next year: All Current Manufacturers - as known

Best of luck in the hunt!

To the Club! Have you looked at the EggCampers? They seem very roomy.

I went back to see the floorplans of the EggCampers & Casitas, roomy yes, but no place place for sleeping 4 it seems. No help from here.

The Trilliums may have the front bunk option. http://www.trilliumtrailers.com/outback/floorplans.html

I believe they are still being make..?
