Help for WA Firefighters and Fire Victims

Help for WA Firefighters & Fire Victims

Sid (in MN) thoughtfully asked if I could formulate a list of organizations that are helping assist with the Firefighters, Families of Fire Fighters and Victims of the Chelan and Okanagan Complex Fires currently burning in Washington State so as to be able to offer help and donations.

I called Judith and she stopped at the Chelan Fire Station and got this list:`

Chelan Complex and Okanagan Complex Fire Donations
Chelan Valley Hope
Assists Victims of Chelan Complex and Okanagan Complex Fires
417 S. Bradley Street
Chelan, WA 98816
509-888-2114
http://chelanvalleyhope.org/

Wildland Firefighter Foundation
Assists Firefighters and Families of Firefighters injured or killed in the line of duty
2049 Airport Way
Bose, ID 83705
208-336-2996
http://www.wffoundation.org

Chelan County Fire District #1
232 E. Wapato
Chelan, WA
509-682-4476
http://www.chelancountyfire.com/

Okanogan County Fire District 6
P.O. Box 895
Winthrop, WA. 98862
Phone: 509-997-2981
http://okanogancountyfd6.com/
Of course any and all help will be appreciated.

Lots of good info at Washington Wildfire Resources Governor Jay Inslee:

What you can do

Red Cross: You can donate to the Red Cross or ask about volunteer opportunities. Any amount is helpful. Call 1-800-RedCross or donate online.

State employees can donate to the wildfire relief campaign online or through their pay checks through the Combined Fund Drive Wildfire Relief Campaign.

Volunteer: If you have firefighting experience and would like to volunteer, submit your info to WA DNR.

It's a real mess up here in Chelan County. All day long the smoke has been heavy along the Columbia River, so much so that they have had to suspend almost all air operations for the past two days on both the Chelan and Okanagan Complex fires. I have only seen 1 or 2 National Guard Blackhawk helicopters making a few water runs from the lake.

We are headed for Omak tomorrow and I will post some pics of what I can see.

Thanks for the donations, it's all helping out those that have lost everything.
