Help with finding vent clip for 1975 scamp

I'm having a hard time finding a screw for a retaining clip that fits onto the big side vent on my 1975 Scamp. I've also tried searching for the clip itself with no luck.

I was wondering if any of you have seen these before and might know a place where I can order a new one or a screw that works with this. Thank you.

What I see, I think you can find in all the "Auto Parts".

Will a standard sheet metal screw work? The retainer looks like a common auto body item. Sometimes they used a coarser thread screw with them. I might even have some, but look in a good auto parts store.

The ones I tried didn't work, I tried very coarse threads and fine threads. I haven't tried the auto parts stores yet so I will see what they might have that might work later today.

I searched online and found some at home depot and Lowe's that are in stock and may work. Thanks.

That is a captive nut, and as others have said, a common automotive item. Bring the screw with you and have them determine if it's standard, fine or course, or metric.

Lowe's and Home Depot stock them, but you will find more variety in an good auto parts store.

There are all kinds of Tinnerman nuts. Someone at a body shop supplier might recognize the name, but that only puts you within a class of products. But at least that would narrow down the matching process.

I believe the usual description of these nuts is, "One like this."
