Herculiner

I've always wanted to paint the bottom of my Scamp with Herculiner. Today a fellow Scamp owner painted hers and it looked great. Next summer mine will be Herculiner white.

I used a similar product for a lower rock chip preventer on my Uhaul, I wanted the black for some contrast, it was easy and came out really nice.

James, please let us know how black the black stays after months or road rash. I've been reading where the black gets more brownish-black in time.... inquiring mind want to know! I've also read where the "white" turns more cream colored...

I am sure it will fade a bit over time and exposure to the elements, we will see. But it is very easy to put a quick top coat on to restore the black, and it was pretty inexpensive, 1 quart gave me three coats in this area with enough left over for touch ups, I think the quart was like $20 or so. I used the Rust-O-Leum bedliner.

Herculiner Fading

If you click on the product, they talk about fading and what you can do about it.

Another excellent product, and my choice, is UPOL Raptor Liner. You can get it in a kit which includes a spray gun. The presssure through the gun determines the texture. Long term UV and mechanical durability is very good. It comes in black and neutral tintable. You add your own urethane pigment to color match anything.

Two questions:
1- everything I have read indicates that sealing the Scamp floor traps moisture in and you increase your chances for rot. Isn't this a concern here?

2-my pick up truck came with a factory bed liner that was sprayed on. I clean it with a scub brush. Are you folks talking about the same type of product? Raz

that sounds like a good idea. as we will be getting our new scamp in march i will study this and see if its something i want to do. the floor is coated on the botom with feberglss resin, but if this would add insurance against future trouble, would be a good idea.
