home made trailer?
Im a fair welder and have welded many types of trailers so Here is a hypothetical question. If I welded up a trailer frame and permanently mount a Bigfoot camper on it and registered it as a trailer with D.M.V
Would you consider it to be a Fiberglass trailer?  Ken

I think they're kinda cool, If you use a long enough trailer then it becomes an open toyhauler and when you unload the toys you have a real nice deck for grilling and picnicking.

I know that, I just don't consider it a travel trailer just because it's plopped on a trailer frame. It's a over head camper on a travel trailer frame, nothing more, nothing less................

Robin, maybe it's not a travel trailer in the normal sense, but ifyou saw it in real life you might really come to like the idea.

Done right it could look kinda like a Bigfoot 5th wheel with a bumper hitch. We've seen several of those done with actual 5th wheels and they look scary (IMHO). But this might be okay....

Sure , why not? but ya gotta consider that it is en excellent candidate to make a small fifthwheel!

Most likely not! I have seen several and frankly they are still a overhead on a frame.
I am not being trailer snobbie either, it's just (I) don't consider a overhead camper, either molded/stickie plopped on a trailer frame a travel trailer. I consider it a overhead camper on a frame, again nothing more, nothing less.
There are many homemade travel trailer's that are travel trailers. But again in my world an overhead on a frame isn't.
As far as making it a 5th wheel, wouldn't that take a little beefing up of the camper in order for it to be towed as a 5'er? You couldn't just stick a king pin under the overhead could you?

Like Greg, i have also seen these mounted on a flat bed trailer for dirtbike and ATV setups for desert riders. I have never seen one framed up like a fifth wheel.

Sure!
If it's on wheels, doesn't have an engine (or engine compartment  ), is connected by a hitch, and is "trailing" behind your tow vehicle, it's a trailer.
And if anybody cares to go in the opposite direction...
If one takes a trailer off its axle and bolts it on a flatbed truck, it's a camper!

I'd probably consider it a fiberglass trailer. I'd probably think it was unique. I'd probably not care much more than I do right now.

thankyou everyone for your thoughts, The idea appeals to me for many reasons 1-I can find Bigfoot campers for sale in Alaska (its hard to find Eggs up here) and they have the best insulation for use in the cold. 2-the idea of a deck out back to carry my Yamaha Rhino or snowmachines in the winter and use for intertaining when camping. 3-I think I could make a nice 5th out of it that would NOT look like a camper just slaped on a goose neck trailer and my truck allready has a 5th hitch. I have not made up my mind on this but Im geting there.  Ken

I have a co-worker that has done this on a long flat deck and uses it for hunting and can take his Argo and side by side with him. Yes the flat bed portion makes for an excellent party deck.

You really only have to "fill in" the plane of the side walls where the camper fits in to the truck bed.
What a fabulous outside access storage opportunity!
