Hi,

which Honda?

With a Ridgeline, you could tow your house, garage and 3 trills.

With a Civic.. you might be able to tow a childs wagon...

You have got to be kidding.

There are golf carts bigger than that car.

The data you are reporting is very atypical for a car the size of the Fit. Usually, the greater the mass of the tow vehicle the greater the towing capacity. (Usually, but not universally. Other factors come into play.) Vehicles in the size of the Fit are rarely tow rated for more than 1,000-1,500 pounds. And even at a 1,000 pound rating, safe towing might be marginal due to the short wheel base of the vehicle. I'm surprised the vehicle has a tow rating. I doubt its capacity to pull anything over 500 pounds.

The Fit is not designed to tow a trailer. Its total weight capacity, including occupants and cargo, is 850 pounds.

You might consider motorcycle trailers. They usually combine a popup tent with a platform. If you want to go hardsided, I think you are looking at the Aliner Alite 400 or a teardrop.

Not recommending these as I have no personal knowledge of these products.

Lite Tent Camper

Roadman Campers

Easy Camper

Scooter Schooner

Okay, we all realize that the Fit's not a great tug, but in case anyone's interested...

The specs look like they were for a Ridgeline, the only Honda with a tow rating as high as 5000 lb... and it has a payload of 705 kg.

For those unfamiliar with the Fit, it is basically a Civic wagon/hatch, in an economy version. Should be a great car, but not a great tug. I agree that motorcycle trailers and small teardrops would be good matches.

On the other hand, I wouldn't be so concerned by the short wheelbase (for very small trailers), as at 2450 mm (96.5") it's no worse than the Jeeps (Wrangler and similar) which some people use to tow their 13' trailers.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.
