Remeber too, that the Keystone/Port Townsend ferry can be iffy. It is now a small boat. There is only one boat unlike the past when a second boat was added for Summer runs. The boat leaves from each side every 1.5 hours. It is often cancelled due to low tides and wind. Reservatin are required (OK, highly recommended).

If you get stuck on the Whidbey side, let us know. We are not far from the ferry.

A GREAT time to visit! Bridge closure 6 wks max, there are BIG financial incentives built into the contract to finish early. It will be a wonderful time to visit the Olympic Peninsula in Washington as many will stay away, but if you approach it by driving up scenic 101 along the Hood Canal you can enjoy many camping options, National Park beaches, victorian Port Townsend, the Olympic Mountains. Both the Irrigation Festival in Sequim and the Rhody Festival in Port Townsend take place in May during the bridge closure.

If you decide to come the Keystone/Port Townsend Ferry mid week travel is advised and definitely make a reservation, no charge to do so or penalty if you cancel.

Come enjoy our bit of paradise!

I used to live in Seattle and grew up with summers on the Olympic Peninsula. I went to GS Camp Robbinswold near Lilliwaup. It is a special place, in the summer on the dry side of the mountains. I was a lighthouse keeper for a week at the Dungeness Spit with my family in 2004. I highly recommend it.

Ohio is flat.

I miss the NW.

Mountains & salt water, doesn't get any better! Robbinswold is still there Pat, though I think GS sold some of the property across the road. Staying at Robbinswold you can attest to what a lovely drive it is on the canal. Come back for a visit!

I moved this to General Chat and out of Rallies. There may be folks traveling in the Pacific Northwest during this closure time frame and would like to know this info. I'm afraid they wouldn't know to look in the Rallies forum
