how come everyone is flashing Me

When I had my little guy everyone flashed me and the trucks honked at me and I understood why but with my casita and full size truck no one flashed me so why are they doing it now with the taco I did have that electrical work done recently I've checked the lights could the lights work fine in park and then have something go wrong in drive

Day or night?
If it's at night the tongue weight is probably raising the front and causing people to think you're on high beams.

hmmmm shawn...that would be new for me...

byron-by eye it doesnt look high...but after the storms go by i'll take a pic...it makes sense tho. i hope that doesnt mean i have to use the wdh. its hard to believe some can pull with a rav...and this truck would have trouble. i have no propane, nothing in bath...2 outfits in the closet...nothing in the truck bed. maybe if i put the wdh in the front seat it would hold it down???i think it weighs 100lbs

I had that issue with my lumina until I put air springs on. It wasn't a lot of difference, but it was apparently enough. I think the original quality of the lights makes a difference too.
My factory lighting was super bright, and I would get flashed just on low beams unloaded sometimes.

Tacomas have very bright lights to begin with, and if you have the TRD model, with larger wheels/tires, and any weight in the bed, chances are your lights are aimed high. I get flashed even without the trailer attached. It was the same with my 2001 Tacoma TRD.

Santacruzer has an excellent point: if your headlights are aimed a bit too high to start with, and tilt nose-up could get you to the point of annoying oncoming traffic with your low beams. Check, rather than immediately trying to "correct" a level problem which you might not have.

i know my low beams are on when this happens. can i get a ticket for that? just extra bright lites?

im hitched now and didnt want to unhitch for awhile...but when i do i can pay closer attention to how much the camper pushes the taco down. i just dont think it is very much at all.

maybe the combo is the problem tho. maybe on the taco site they could tell me what to do.

ps. handsome dog...

To see if the truck is settling under tongue weight, you don't need to completely "unhitch." You just need to release the coupler, jack up the trailer just enough to take the weight off the ball. Might take 10 minutes total.

Stick a chunk of 2 x 4 on the ground under the rear bumper and measure from top of it to underside of bumper or the hitch receiver. Then release the trailer from the ball and jack it up until free of the ball and measure again. That will tell you how much the rear is dropping with the trailer attached.

I'm looking at your avatar and it looks like your quite a bit low, we have 2 folks in our group that tow with recent models of tacoma's both being TRD's, one had the Toyota dealer install an extra spring, the other person won't admit he has a problem but I'll bet the rear drops 3 - 3-1/2"

The TRD models come with high performance(as dealers options get) off road shocks geared toward fast driving on rough roads. I believe they can carry Less weight then the stock suspension on a standard Tacoma. Look at swapping those out before you look at overload springs they really stiffen the ride when you are not towing.

I have driven Toyota PUs forever.
My only complaint is if you put 3 bags of grocerys in the bed the rear sags.
I have an 07 Tacoma and I took the air bags of my 05 and reinstalled them on my 07.
The only way to keep from getting a ticket and stop the flashing is to beef up your rear suspension.
I recommend the Air Lift air bags,
With 10 lbs of air in them and you won't feel any difference in you ride.
You can pump them up to 100 lbs and a 1500 lb. load will ride level.
I run about 40 lbs when I tow my 13 foot Scamp.

She's already spent a ton of money trying to tow this trailer and she has already bought a WDH.
If she is able to use it, she won't have to spend more on air bags and install.

Possibly a stupid thing to mention, but my 06 Sienna has adjustable lights that I can aim up or down with a toggle on the left side below the steering wheel. Any chance Tacomas have that?
