Great if you have a basement model trailer or motorhome. Doubtful anyone who cares about their equipment would put it unprotected under an all molded towable.

I was thinking of that..........that could be disastrous........lol.

I think it's doable for me as I have an under the bed compartment.

Depends on your equipment.
I've got a hard plastic case for the regular rods and reels. An extendable tube for the fly rod. Tackle boxes and a knapsack for the other gear. The same things I use for my equipment when I'm not camping. One does not always have the luxury of fishing at the campsite.

at the eggfest rally held in late may in ontario, there was a VERY cool fishing rod holder seen on a boler there and it was built from wood and mounted on the inside of the door.
it did an amazing job of providing easy access yet security from damage. i just wish i'd been smart enough to have taken a photo!

anyone else who attended the eggfest take a photo??????

Are we talking about fresh water or salt. I have a beach cart with a carrier that fits a 2" reciever.

[One does not always have the luxury of fishing at the campsite.]

That's why I thought the one was pretty nifty. If I can hang mine under
the bed it will always be there for those opportune times. Wife and daughter
seem to always want a "lake view" so far. And a few spots we've been in
walking distance to some water.

Got to tell this shameful story.........made me remember it.
My aunt told me they used to live in a tent during the depression.
My grandmother would tie a button on a string and toss it out and
drag it back to lure neighboring chickens to the camp. My aunt
said when they were lucky they would have boiled chicken. Only
there was no salt or anything. They were just thankful to have a meal.

That's a cool idea. I just wonder how many wives would be agreeable
to a "man-cave" option like that?

hey---sure wouldn't bother me! and although i can see it in my mind yet cannot provide a photo for you to see it, it was very well-done and actually looked like it belonged there.

My son had fishing rod holders mounted to the inside top of his camper shell. That seemed to work out well for him. He used mostly one piece fresh water spinning rods.

I had an option of rod holders when I ordered my shell and I
declined because of budget issues at the time. Now I'm kicking
myself for not going for it. I can add some but don't want to drill
my shell any more than my camper.......lol. Guess there ought
to be some way of glueing them in.

My fly rods have cost from $100 ( that I built myself ) to over $600 ( I'm not saying how much over ). They are broken down ( taken apart ), placed in fabric socks and then into aluminum tubes. They would never, ever be transported as suggested.
BTW, the reels are extra ( $300 to $400 each ).

Glenn,

I hear ya. Rods in their tubes and reels in padded cases. BTW, I am a former ff@ member. Nice to see you pop up here on FGRV.

I carry rods that break down and are easy to stow in their cases.
