It's just past 4am here in Portland, Oregon. I live in "East County," and we have ice everywhere! A freezing rain front came through after midnight and everything is coated. Looks like a bad commute coming up to get to work We've suffered through the "wettest" November on record. Over a foot of rain!

For the last couple of days it has been very warm here in Cheeseland, around 55 degrees. We had 9 days that were 50 degrees and up. Way above normal. When I woke up this morning, it was 10 degrees and closer to our average. At least we missed the ice that was forecast to come with the cold.
Alf-You are right, the shoe will drop hard today in your part of the country.

It has been -25C to -30C for about a week, and about 25cm (10") of snow, and still snowing.

It is 26 degrees. We had a night of freezing rain and the streets are covered in ice. EVERYTHING shuts down in Oklahoma when we ice up. All schools, etc. My son is happy. He won't be very happy when he finds he can't go anywhere because of the ice. Looks like we'll bag another four day weekend.

We expect 2-10 inches of snow later today. It will actually help, providing some traction for those brave enough to venture out. That won't be me. I have a nice hot cup of coffee, a lazy boy recliner and a lap dog.

Got up yesterday in Edmonton and the temp was minus 27 and with windchill minus 35. Flew home and arrived at 4 AM. Temp in TO plus 14.
Nice to see the green, green grass of home.

Arizona is not all desert and heat, not by a long shot. In the eastern mountains where we live, life is much different. Yesterday we had our first snow, a meager 6 inches. This morning the temp was a minus 2 F degrees. I know this is not nearly as cold as what many of you folks are experiencing, but I'll tell ya, it IS cold enough ! Would not trade life here for any of the summer heat in Phoenix. For that matter, even winter heat !

We're basking in 28 F in the mountains of sunny So. Calif! The fire in the heating stove makes it comfortable while sipping my first cuppa coffee.
Stay safe and warm!

Here in lower east Alabama it's 66 degrees and we'll have a high today of about 75. But we will get a cold front in tomorrow--55 degrees! Gee, I guess I'll have to get out my long-sleeved tee shirt.....

Hello Debbyj-How many EGGS can you fit in your yard? I am putting in my reservations starting now and going until March. I am on I39 headed south now, please give me directions to your place.
Only kidding, I love winter. I hope we get some snow soon. The cross-country skiis are in the garage waiting to get some use.

I am sitting in my office in Chicago waiting for the dump. They predict rain, sleet, and 6 to 16 inches of snow beginning today and going into tomorrow, along with winds. They don't mention blizzard but it sure sounds like one to me. I rode the train in today. My VW has not mastered skating and snowplowing.

Sunday on Lopez

This Sunday on Lopez starts with spots of sun
No surprise
The San Juan Islands seldom have snow
Our rain fall is about half of Seattle’s
A cold winter night is under 40
Power failures are few and far between
This Sunday’s a little different

By noon the wind is blowing the snowflakes right at the front of the house.
The waves are marching across the bay onto the beach below.
But the heat is on in the Lazy Boy
Coffee’s on
Brandy’s poured
The Sunday paper just beat the storm
God I love this little island

The wind and snow stops at dawn next day
Then the power goes out go figure
At nine I light the wood stove
At eleven the house is warm and the sun is out
At noon the lights came on….figure
Though the roads are closed, I still love this little island
but it’s better with electric heat

Morning the next day was 18F
Sun out all day warming to 22
Evening sky fill with stars
Closing the blinds to warm the house
Trip to the store two miles a way, exciting
Tomorrow 16 and heavy PM snow
Are we having fun yet?

Next day TV weather guys wrong
The snow’s just in patches
Fir branches cover the deck
Deer nuzzling the grass sticking up
Firewood needs restacking
Ditch bound cars waiting rescue
Things normal …. Booooring

You succeeded, my friend, because your weather was 33 degrees warmer than Denver's this morning.
