How much would it take???
Here is a fun question for e'body. How much would it take to buy your Egg on the spot? What you paid, twice what you paid, Three times what you paid? Other considerations? The reason I ask is b/c I keep finding notes on my trailer from folks wanting to buy mine. Also, when it's at my house being made trip ready folks stop, my neighbors ask, folks at gas stations ask. I usually tell them they are not going to want to pay what it would take to buy it off me right then and there. For me that offer would be at least twice what I paid and in cash. Reason being my trailer was only made 1 yr in solid aluminum before they switched to Fiberglass or Alufiber (aluminum/fiberglass composite) so they are rare. Also, the current Tabs are not made by Dutchmen any longer or with German parts so that makes mine special too. Getting twice what I paid would allow me to get a nice used Egg. If I were traveling and going to be inconvienienced by having to load e'thing into my tow vehicle as well as stay at hotels the rest of my trip that would increase my price too. If they want my BAL Leveler, Brand new Porta Potti etc those things are not free.
So, what say ya'll, what would it take to buy your trailer out from under you anywhere any place? Would that include all the accessories, are there any items you would not part with? Or is your trailer not for sale at any price?

That's a good question - and I've gotten those notes, too! Now that I've put enormous amounts of work, never mind money, into total refurbishing my Burro is worth WAY more to me than it would be to anybody else thanks to the whole emotional bonding thing. It's going to kill me if we ever decide to upgrade to a longer trailer with a bathroom and stuff.

We spent a year looking at used trailers , drove to Scamp in Backus Minnesota and were planning a trip to Rice Texas (Casitas) when my son found our Scamp on Craig's List. We drove down to look at it that day after work and made an offer. As we were leaving the sellers home two other parties stopped to look and also made offers . The value of time spent looking, traveling and the work of adding your own touches to the trailer is not calculable in dollars. We've had several people offer us a lot more money than what we paid for our Scamp but my wife and I so far have said no.

Right now, about 1/2 of what I paid.
Not really, I have it all torn apart (oops sorry, wifey).
When it goes back together and is FINISHED, about twice ... would make me think real hard.

Enough to buy one of those longer Bigfoots and a new tow vehicle to pull it. Of course, since all we drive are VWs, that might be kind of hard to do.

Eggy-Sue is (to us) the quint-essential, no, the very paragon of small trailers!
The only possible way we could consider it's sale would be for enough to order a new one with the few minor differences we would like....
On second thought... Naw, we're good, thanks anyway.

Actually, I want one of the new T-2s that are being sold in Europe. Or one of those Bulli concept vans supposedly due out in 2014. Or the pickup Amarok.

hmmm..good question. what WOULD it take? well, after consideration of the question, the answer is that our Osokozy is not for sale. we have put alot of love into the mods we've done. plus all of the memories we've made in it. plus the fact that it is our very first brand-new camping rig....many years of used (very used!) tent trailers before we bought this one. nope. not for sale.

Well since I never get to use it and it's still not finished I'll take, no wait they only built Boler Americans one year, right? Never mind it's not for sale.

Ed, my wife would say my ladder is suspended between two barrels. I keep moving - only sideways
I just sold my '74 VW camper for $6200 and bought a '77 13' Trillium for $3600. I think I moved "UP"

I feel your pain, I'm in the same boat with you right now. Stick with it, we'll come out sitting pretty at the end.

I know what comparable Bolers sell for and therefore I know what mine is worth on the market. What it is worth on the market is what I'll sell it for.

Interesting.....it seems folks who have made lots of memories or have a lot of blood sweat and tears invested are less likely to turn loose of their beloved trailers at any price.
Ed, does the "make me an offer" go for your lovely Fiberstream as well? You seem pretty attached to that one.
This is fun, keep the answers coming!

My Fiber Stream is not worth "on the market" what it is worth to me. It may fetch about twice I originally paid for it, but my heirs will have to determine what to sell it for after I'm gone.

The major difference is that my Boler 1700 actually IS for sale.....
(Now that I have my Bigfoot 21, the B17 is "surplus to requirements")
