Hybrid vehicle as a tow rig?

Came across this article this morning: http://www.greenbuildingadvisor.com/blogs/dept/guest-blogs/running-our-house-prius-power?&lookup=auto&V27=&V28=&V29=&V30=&V31=&V32=&V 33=&V34=&V35=&V55=&V56=&Taun_Per_Flag=True&utm_sou rce=eletter&utm_medium=eletter&utm_content=fhb_ele tter&utm_campaign=fine-homebuilding-eletter about using a Prius as an emergency power source for a home. This got me to thinking; why wouldn’t a suitable hybrid vehicle make a great off-grid power source and TV? Add some solar panels to recharge both the trailer’s batteries and the tug’s and life would be grand.

"Suitable" would be the key - if you're mostly a flatlander, a hybrid might work fine for lighter trailers. Structurally, I don't think there is enough frame strength to tow much since the focus is a light weight vehicle design. On hills/mountains I'd be concerned about running low on juice as gas mileage can vary wildly with slope and headwinds.

Send a message via Yahoo to Darwin Maring
Fill the egg with more batteries, run an extension cord to the car and extend the driving range.
