Well part of my decision was do it now or forget it. So I did it. I like the Scamp 5er first time I saw it and then I actually went to look at a real one and definitely liked it. So this one was available for immediate delivery and was configured the way I wanted. I wasn't necessarily looking for a deluxe but the deluxe do look nice. So that's what I've got. Now I just have to wait until my pickup date (set by me of course).
Good luck as you continue your quest. One day the time will be right.

Hi Raz, I got the 19ft deluxe with a front bath. Saw one of those last year in real life and it looks pretty good. I'll have my own hitched to the back before long.

Scamp shows a layout A and a layout B? The ends look the same with the kitchen components rearranged. Also oak or birch?

If Scamp doesn't provide the white water hose you may want to get one in advance and run water through it. The one we purchased had a very strong plastic smell/taste at first. would hate that smell to go into your new tank.
You should also put on your to buy list a water pressure thingy if you haven't already got it on your list. You don't want a flooded trailer due to too much pressure.
And an electric outlet adapter, but I don't know what that is since with our set up I have never needed one. That can wait til you see what you need. Just wanted to give you a heads up on that stinky hose.
I also like to have on hand the WalMart atlas. Maybe your GPS has all WalMarts within distance marked. We have found it necessary to overnight at WalMart a couple of times. I like to use colored pens for each time I cross the county. Helps me remember which roads we have already taken and I mark on the map notes about campgrounds on that route.
Let me know if you are not going directly to Backus.

Nick, Maybe these will be of help finding overnights & places to dump:
Boondocking Sites
Bob's Cheap or Free CG's US
FreeCampsites USA
*:* Free or Almost Free Campgrounds for RVs
National Forest Dispersed Camping .... Ditto
More on Boondocking
COE Campgrounds and BLM Camping
Always good for Wal-Marts - Allows or Not Overnighting.
Places which Might Allow Overnighting
Extra Water & Transferring Water
A Water Thief can make finding water a lot easier. Got one from Wally World.
RV Dumps Sites
Dump Stations
At Cody, WY Wal-Mart 2009
At Trinidad, CO Wal-Mart
At Wheatland, WY city park, has camping; found on above *:* site.
When we were in a C-Class MH, we had often used Rest Areas. With them or any place:
Just be Viligant, some are better than others, if spooky, don't, if not stay. Welcome centers have been nice to stay in.
Consider your surroundings carefully and if you feel uncomfortable with the area, move somewhere else. I feel comfortable when there are one or two (more so if more) RVs are overnighting at a location.
Many stay at Truck Stops, I hear Flying J's mentioned a lot, also Cracker Barrels. I have not.
I have read many accounts of people staying at casinos and at Cabela's. I have not, but would. CasinoCamping
New Mexico State Parks are a great bargain. Fees from $8 to $10 per Night without an entry fee when camping.

Keep in mind the possibility of snow (even heavy snow) at high elevations in April. Those mountain passes can be dicey. Even as far south as I-70 the passes in April can get interesting. Allow extra days in case a front moves in and makes an area hazardous.
Another option in SW North Dakota is Bowman-Haley Rec Area, on a lake of the same name. If you don't need electric hookup the camping is free, and there's a water spigot and dump station available, no charge. Electric sites, I forget but I think they were $20 or less.

Congratulation Nik,
What were your key factors to get Scamp 19’, besides falling in love with it. I think you were also looking at Lil Snooze and others.
Happy and safe travel.
George.

I don't really know which layout. Didn't ask. My guess is layout A only because it shows the large refer which I'm getting. The wood is birch which I like because it's light in color.

Hi Nancy - I'm beginning to think I don't have enough time to get all that I need to make this happen before I pick it up. I might just not worry about it until I get to Oregon. Besides there's no sales tax in Oregon. Maybe one more trip staying at hotels/motels cross country and then no more.
Thanks for the tips though. I knew about the regulator, but no clue on the hose. I did purchase my first two items today though. 2 stainless insulated coffee mugs. I was in Cabela's and they were on sale, half price, so I bought them.
Yeah this is going to be fun. NIck

Yep weighs heavily on my mind. Not in a super rush so that won't be a problem. Thanks and for the ND info.

Hi George,
Well my first inclination was to get a Scamp. Secondly was the 5th wheel once I saw it. Since it will basically be my home I wanted the room and a separate full time bed. I do a lot of work with computers online and just like the extra the 5er gave me. I only started seriously looking at something else when I mistakenly assumed my truck bed rail was to high to accommodate the Scamp. I even briefly considered the Lance, mainly because it was 4 season, but when I decided I should call on the Scamp and found that it would work it was kind of a done deal for me. And then to top it off they had the exact configuration I wanted ready to go. Worked perfectly for me because I really didn't want to make another trip out to pick it up or any of the others either. The Lance would have been the exception since they sell through a dealer network. So it's a Scamp and I like it's looks.
Thanks for asking.
Nick

I love those wood interiors and would really like it IF they put a recliner in place of the dinette. I'm just not big at sitting at a dinette all the time, then going to bed. That's one reason I liked the Casita FD, because of the captains chairs. Although I suspect I will be reclining in that bed watching TV if I have to sit there.

That's one thing that led me to wanting something with a separate bed. I don't mind sitting at the dinette when I'm working but I know I'll be rigging something up to be a bit more comfortable. I found this really nice chair for outside relaxing and working on my laptop, almost like a recliner.
Cabela's Zero G Padded Chaise Lounger
Found it at Cabela's. I might just have to get it once I arrive in Oregon (no sales tax).
I'll miss my leather recliner for sure.

Slow down Nick and smell the roses. You aren't one of us yet if you would really prefer to stay in a motel!
ND sales tax is only 5 percent and I don't think MT has a sales tax at all.
So, pick up some drinking water, emergency food stuff, sleeping gear, teakettle, some coffee and take it slow across the states. There is no way I would cross the mountains at this time of the year without being able to sit out whatever nature sends my way. Matches, candle, sleeping bag, other necessities are in our car all winter long.
It took us a long time to change from hectic to a slower pace. There are things to see between here and there.
Glad you got those mugs at least.

Ooh. You're hard. Hehe. Unfortunately my grand daughter, who recently informed me she'll be 4 years old and I'd better come see her, doesn't live in those states. I need to get the trailer registered/titled in Oregon, visit a dear friend who just lost her husband, and get down to California for that grand daughters birthday. I will have plenty of time to visit those states in the next few months/years. But thanks for the encouragement.
And by the way I always travel with those things even when driving from motel to motel. Hehe.

Actually Oregon is my home, officially. I've been visiting my son in Pittsburgh for the winter. So yes I'll be titling the unit in Oregon.
