I finally found them!!!

Remember a discussion awhile back regarding the vintage style super lightweight aluminum webbed lawn chairs? They are ridiculously expensive on ebay but I found a new company which is now making them here in the USA!! Georgia to be exact. They only weigh around 3 lbs and can support up to 225 lbs. They come in loads of colors and even have a model with a built in beverage holder. I'll order a couple when I get back from WY but wanted to share that I found them!!

YES, Rusty! No China "stuff". They also sell webbing if anybody has good frames but needs to re-web.

Oh, I hated those things because I'm a big guy and they were uncomfortable, but for a smaller person they are probably great.

The best part is they're the key ingredient for a "lawn chair brigade" and have been hard to find!

Thanks for the tip!

Hi, all

One word of caution- the plastic arms on this newer version of an old favorite are very fragile.
The old ones with aluminum or even redwood arms are still turning up in thrift stores. People get rid of them when the webbing goes bad- most don't want to bother with replacing it, though it's super easy. I've never paid more than a couple of dollars for one and am so selective I only buy matched pairs!

I've acquired enough for all our outdoor needs this way- and thanks, Melissa, for the heads up to another source for the webbing!

Wow! How come I never find deals like that?? You'd think in FL they would be e'where. Nobody seems to want to part with them. Maybe b/c the retirees love them so much. When you find them on Craig's List or ebay they want like $40+ for them. The lounge chairs are going for $65! As of now, the company doesnt plan to make the Lounge style but they have been getting more and more requests so if they think it's worth their while to purchase the equipment they will consider it for the future.

Holy Smokes!

I had no idea they're such hot commodities.
I passed up a pair yesterday because I don't need any more.
Maybe they're more commonly discarded in my 2/10 climate:
2 Months of Lawn Chair Weather/10 Months of Easy Chair Weather

I guess along about the 4th or 5th month of rain folks stop believing they'll ever sit outside again, and out the chairs go!

P.S.
Here's our local Lawn Chair Brigade during the annual parade...
I am NOT a member- looks too much like exercise to me!

Love the video! Our local parade has a "shopping cart brigade" from a local grocery store.

Hmm, I may have a few in the garage. We used to have the lounge chair too. I know I have one with wooden arms and webbing that is not woven.

I did not like them. They are butt-pinchers. The yellow one is not a butt-pincher.

Craigslist maybe to pay for camping?

I've bookmarked the site. Thanks for posting it Melissa! I love my web chairs. They're lightweight, compact for packing, easy to clean, don't rust, don't absorb water and more importantly, don't make my back hurt unlike a lot of canvas chairs. I've got two frames in the garage ready to be rewebbed... in YELLOW!

Right there with ya, Donna. Those canvas things put my legs/feet to sleep since I'm only 5 ft and my toes barely reach the ground. They are also hard for my little one fold/unfold. They hold up to 225 lbs. which I thought was pretty good as some of the canvas ones only held 200lbs which was 50lbs short for Hubby. My folks are also ordering the yellow for the chairs they inherited from my G'parents 10+ years ago!

Nope - I live out in the country (sort of); that video is of a friend of mine's group, though. Last July 4th. It was their first parade, and they had trouble finding the right chairs for it. If you look on YouTube, there are several videos of different Lawn Chair groups - men and/or women. Funny!
