Hi Everyone:
I wanted to announce my purchase of a "new-to-me"
Bigfoot 19 pull travel trailer.
I have been interested in a
Casita for several years, and spent the better part of last year doing research into the Casitas. Last Spring, I discovered this site and along with the
Casita Travel Forum.
But I did have trouble locating a
Casita that would fit my needs and budget. The
EggCamper was also added to my short list, and I traded several posts with some of the
EggCamper owners on this forum. Unfortunately, there is are very few used EggCampers on the market and the 2-3 recently advertised were located too far away for me.
Last October, I took my "research project" to the Casita Lake
rally, and saw several Bigfoots for the first time.
Although it did not have the same aerodynamic shape as the Casita or
EggCamper, I really appreciated the
Bigfoot 17's wider interior cabin and basement storage capabilities. Plus, I was intrigued with the thermo package available on Bigfoots. So, I spent the next 2 months researching Bigfoots.
Much of this research entailed pouring through the archives of this Forum and PM
ing Bigfoot owners to ask about various modifications they undertook. I also contacted Bigfoot owners
to inquire why they decided to purchase a Bigfoot and how well the trailer met those needs. I have to say everyone I contacted was so very helpful, and I believe that I made some new friendships.
And so, a race began between Bigfoot and Casita. Last month, I began seriously scanning Ads for Bigfoots along with Casitas. I wanted the right sized trailer, located in a city that was reasonably close to my house, that had most of the options I needed, and was within my budget. But as ADs for well priced Casitas came my way, I realized that I wanted a Bigfoot. Last Sunday, I saw an Ad for a Bigfoot 19 within 2 hours of my house. The trailer was just what I was looking for
(minus a queen size bed) and the owner was willing to negotiate a price within my budget.
Sort of a late X-mass gift from Santa.
Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it!
Happy New Years, all!
