I have good news and bad news....

First the bad news, I will not be able to attend the rally being held in Pennsylvania at the end of June because I will no longer have a camper. I sold the Lance 1575 this week to a nice couple from New York.
The good news is...............I'm back from the dark side!!
I have put in an order for a new Escape 19' to be hatched on July 9th. Reace and Tammy have been very helpful in making some of the decisions. I went today and applied for my passport as I intend to drive the close to 6000 miles out and back to BC, Canada. I just need to find a driving companion other than Franklin or Hershey, my 2 labs.
I figure 3 days out, 1 there and 4 days return. Let's hope that everything will fall into place.

Just curios--- why did you decide to sell the Lance? Looks like a nice camper.

It was either an Airstream or a Bigfoot or an Escape. I feel the need to live my dreams
and I have spent a lot of time research these three. I saw a Bigfoot at the Tennessee Rally and really liked the sturdiness of it. The Airstream's 3000 rivets concern me and the 22' Sport was my choice but I feel the fiberglass Escape will hold it's value like the Airstream but have lot less potential issues. In addition the Escape is lighter and shorter and easier to maneuver. Also, Airstreams can not be changed, they have no options whereas you can make/outfit the Escape anyway you please. Oh, one more thing, I love to camp in the winter and other than Bigfoot what else is there?

Congrats on the new trailer Jim, but will miss you at the gathering. Hopefully it will go on as I'm suppose to pick up my new Parkliner then. I do wish there were more attending, but just glad with have something here in the East.

I guess you don't want to comment on your Lance so I won't ask either and can respect that. Tim, does parkliner have a program where they will send interested folks to see your trailer like scamp does? I did not catch what state you live in. I bet you and Jim are very excited. New fiberglass wow.

The Lance is a nice camper, a lot nicer than most others. It was my first slide and it takes getting used to, step up, step down. The windows and 12v awning is great as is the tankless water heater, something we will see soon in fiberglass trailers. I've always wanted an Airstream and when it came time to purchase, I did not want to deal with 3000 rivets. Look at the issues with Scamps/Casitas with a dozen rivets. Escape is a well thought out trailer and I can find no flaws with it. Although there is an Airstream dealer 2 hours, I opted for the dealer 3000 miles away!!
The issue is winter camping, Airstreams have way too much single pane glass. Escape/Bigfoot have thermapane.
By the way, Escape is using the Atwood Everest low amp draw furnace now.

Thanks, Jim for answering. There's so much to think about when contemplating a change. I'm pretty sure an Escape is a win win choice! Happy camping!!

Good for you Jim! Welcome back to the bright side from the dark side. However, I don't think I could drive 1,000 miles a day for three days... not if I wanted to walk... when I finally got out of the tug. And, then almost as many miles going home but towing? Wow. Be adaptable and only travel in one day as much as you should...

Safe travels

Hi Ken, Not that I'm aware of, but I'll have to ask them sometime. I'm in central N.Y. And yes I'm really looking forward to my new camper.

The Escape 19 is a nice trailer, for sure. I hope you didn't take too much of a beating on the Lance resale.

of course I did, just like on my egg and all my other 4 trailers I have owned in the past 4 years, it is my way of "paying it forward" and helping the economy.
it certainly is not earning any rate of return in the bank, so why not.

Wow, Jim! Congrats on your new Escape. I'm curious about the options you chose, and/or what you mean by "anyway you please." I'd love to have a 19 ft. Escape, although there are a couple of features that I know I wouldn't like. (One is no Fantastic Fan over the bed.)

You will like your Escape 19 Tammy and Reace are just great to work with. Get the taillights on each side of the back window for added safety, a front box is a great place to store all the trailer stuff.

As someone who just drove 1,700 miles one way to pick up her trailer, I'll tell ya man, watch out for those mountains! I left St Louis, MO area on a Friday morning, went to just about Butte, MT and then headed back with the Scamp and got home Wed evening. Would have been home Tuesday but got sick from Salt Lake to way east of Denver and that slowed me down. Take your time, because those quick altitude changes may not work out well for you, on a personal level.
