I'd like to buy an old 13' Boler, Trillium, Casita, Cloud 9, Fiber Stream, etc. Any ideas how to fine one other than ebay and craigslist? I don't mind having to fix it up, in fact would prefer one that needs to be restored, as long as I can still move it. Any ideas? I just joined the group yesterday. UPDATE: I FOUND ONE ON BUYSELL.COM IN WINNIPEG, BROUGHT IT HOME YESTERDAY, 8/31/06-1982 SURFSIDE NEEDING LOTS OF WORK, BUT STRUCTURALLY SOUND. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU FOR THE HELP FINDING ONE. YOU'RE A GREAT GROUP!

Welcome, Catherine.
This board may be a resource for you. Several members post links, or other contact information, here on the "Referral" forum. That is One resource.

I will relate how I found my first trailer, a gutted Compact Junior. I did it the "[b]old-fashioned" way:
It was listed in a "[b]Trader" Magazine, that I picked up at a 7-11 convenience store. However, It was not in the [b]RV Trader. I found it quite by accident in the [b]Heavy Equipment Trader. The previous owner had gutted it out because he really wanted a cargo trailer to use in his carpet business. So when he went to sell it, he only considered it as a cargo trailer.

I bought any [b]Trader magazine that had ANY trailer listing in it. Stuff appears mis-categorized all the time, so you sometimes snag a deal looking in the "wrong" places.

(BTW, FiberStream only made 16' trailers, if that affects your search in any way...)

Hey Thanks for the tip about Trader. I lost out on a nice Boler that was listed as an "ice house" because the owner drilled a hole through the bottom below the couch seat. I didnt quite have enough money at the time though. But it was odd seeing it listed as an ice house, not a camper. Oh and thanks for pointing out that Trilliums are 16'.

Here's a list of sources to research from the Yahoo Scampers Files section:

QUOTE
How To Find A Used Fiberglass Trailer

1. Look in the FILES section of this group
under Wanted and For Sale.

2. Check the FOR SALE areas of:

MFROG (http://www.fiberglassrv.com)
Casita Forum (http://www.casitaforum.com)
Casita Club (http://www.casitaclub.com)

Note: Some of the above links may refer to each other.

3. Look on EBay by the various names and misspellings
thereof (Scamp, scamper, skamp, skamper -- Skamper is
actually another manf's name), casita, uhaul, boler,
bigfoot, burro, etc.

4. Find the Classified website for your local newspapers,
paying close attention towards the end of the week as
sellers tend to advertise over weekends and the ads may
appear on website before getting into print.

Hello, Catherine! Welcome from another Minnesotan! You will looooove your camper when you find it. I've so enjoyed mine and was just featured in a newspaper where I was camping. The fellow that wrote the article always wanted to see one and did a little write up about it!

We have a great advantage being so close to Winnipeg! There's always lots of trailers for sale there on buysell.com Just do a search and you'll find one easily enough. The US dollar is still pretty strong against the Canadian dollar, so you may find a bargain.

Did you check the forums here where some of the members are selling their eggs?

Good luck, when you find one, make sure you come back with a picture and all those questions you'll likely have!

Another site to add to the list: DelphiForums Bolerama (click the "Start Reading" button, then see the "Trailers for sale/wanted" category on the left side of the page). This is specifically for Bolers (not all eggs, like FiberglassRV), but also often includes Trilliums.

Information is good. Lack of information is not so good, but misinformation is much worse. Check facts, and apply common sense liberally.

Har! I didn't make up the list, I just passed it on -- Jannkaay of Yahoo Scampers put it together (likely from a search for a used one). But for all that, I found my used Scamp at a dealer's in Vermont -- Saw it, stopped, made a trade for a check plus my Jayco 16' and drove away a few hours later in my new-to-me home!

Donna, I would have set up a Link to the Yahoo Scampers File Section where the whole thing resides, but the link would only work for those who are already Yahoo members.
