Ice Fishing Season Must Be Open

Not that I would take it up with the perfect opportunity, but my husband and I were on our way to Wal-Mart, trying to shake early cabin fever, already, and we spotted the first ice fishing house on the lake and two people. BRRRRRRRRR! Not to mention asking how thick is the ice?

Was that on a small lake. I don't think Green Bay would have thick enough ice yet. The Lake Michigan side freezes even later than the Bay. I haven't been watching the weather up there to know if it has been cold enough.

Lake Shawano. It's not a deep lake which answers why there are so many pontoons. My husband's uncles were big ice fisherman in Faribault. Their boats didn't run without beer so I am sure the ice houses didn't either.

We have 4-8" of ice depending on the lake up here in northern wi. It's almost too late for the "early ice" bite.

You take it home, clean it, bread it then fry it in grease to add to the plaque already in your veins. My son went out onto the lake to see how thick the ice was. The dog would follow along the shore but not on the ice. Obviously she thinks when you can't swim and drink in it at the same time it's not worth walking on. At least I don't have to worry about picking her up on the opposite shore.

Honest folks, with a wheel house, this is the other side of RV camping. You know the dark side, the one you keep locked in the attic.
