Small icebergs off St. Anthony. The first is only about 200 feet long. The second about 150 ft. It is grounded close to the rocks at Goose Cove. The third is actually two towers joined underwater with a 'plate'. It was a little farther offshore and still moving. Caribou winter on the coastal marshes and move back to higher elevations in late spring. Taken June 2nd. 2015.

Hi Dave,
We only got as far North on the West coast as Cow Head. We did see lots of caribou. It sure is a late spring. No leaves on the deciduous trees when we left Morris Point/ Rocky Harbour on May 25. Excellent music festival, Tales, Trails and Tunes. What a hoot!

One of my camping highlights was seeing dozens of icebergs off the North Western coast of Newfoundland. Unbelievably beautiful. Even your excellent pictures don't do them justice.

Walt,

Last year we spent a good part of the spring on Fogo Island. The icebergs were magnificent, the best in 85 years so the people on Fogo commented. I wonder how they were this year? Were you there this year?

No, that was several years ago. I traveled all the way up the West coast of Newfoundland and took the ferry over to Labrador for a couple of days, but never got to the Eastern part.

Sounds like our first trip. We thought we'd see it all in a couple of weeks... We were really newbies. I can remember the first iceberg, seeing it first at a distance on the otherside of a bay I chased it to get closer. Truly unforgettable.
