I'm a Tony! Are you?

I remember Gelett Burgess's poem "Good Intentions" from my childhood that begins something like

Tony started bright and early cleaning up his room
Then he found he had to stop to make a little broom.
He went into the garden to get a little stick,
But the garden needed weeding so he set about it quick...

It continues on and on, and at the end Tony never cleans his room, but he HAS built a great box.


Since I've begun my major trailer cleanup, I've been Tony X 4, even though I have my To Do list. For example, this morning I was testing different cleaning solutions on the ensolite and then went inside to look up on the computer why my trusty 409 can't be used on soft vinyl. Then I looked up ensolite to see if it was a vinyl or foam and of course needed to look up the chemical makeup of each. Then I discovered self-adhesive ensolite and had to look at pictures of artistic room treatments using ensolite.
Getting back to work, I decided to wear latex gloves, which reminded me it was time to color my hair again.......... That was in the FIRST hour of a 12 hr trailer day. I got a LOT done, but nothing finished.

This is the story of my life when I have unstructured time. How do most of you keep your focus? Any tricks to share?

Needless to say, my trailer updates will be forthcoming.... sometime.<_<

That all sounds about right, Ruth (and thanks for sharing!) I suspect as you get further along and learn more about what you're doing/working with, you will feel like you are making more progress. Meanwhile, you're expanding your knowledge of all the systems on your trailer. It's all good!

Check lists help me. I can't move to the next item until I check off the item I'm working on. Sometimes the ole Procrastinator raises her ugly head, but 99% of the time I prevail! My check list is broken down into chunks from easiest to hardest and I find after accomplishing something pretty tough, it's best to work on a couple of the easiest. It's always nice to see progress! YMMV

I agree with Donna, lists lists lists. At least at the end of the day it looks like I did something. When I was doing my trailer I would always start thinking of some item or project a ways down the to do list. If it seemed important I would wright it down to put on a list latter that night, then try to get back to what I was doing. There was so many things that needed to go in at a certain order that it didn't bother me to get off of track when doing a project, it even helped me to not do somethings twice when I thought out the process. The only time my mind did not wander is when I did uky crummy jobs like fiberglassing under the trailer, to much fumes and cussing to think of anything else.

I may start with a list (btw, it's a honey dooo list)...but I NEVER adhere to it. I do at least 4 jobs at a time and it really is easier on my body instead of doing one job for a long time. It really breaks the day up. I work best doing everything at once......I know, I'm strange.

You,re not the only one that operates this way. My work for 30 plus years required me to jump from crisis to crisis. Eventually, I would get bored and a bit testy if I only had one thing to work on. Now that is the only way I can work. Lists do work but just to remind me how many things are waiting to be completed.
Like eating an elephant, one bite at a time, they all get done - eventually.

I recently finally installed my PD9130 w/Charge Wizard converter that's been sitting in it's shipping box for 4 years.

Well finally!

I just run in circles till I'm so dizzy I don't remember where I started or where I was going. Some days it seriouly seems this way. Adult ADD I guess.
