Hi: Thanks Mike... I checked mine and yepper they are all visably cracked around the base of the stems; even the spare... never been used!!! Maybe some of the tire failures we have been reading about were really stem failures
I also sent the article to Reace at Escape Trailers so he can act on it. Thanks again

I am bringing a couple of copies of the article to the Oregon Gathering and will leave them on the registration table or close to it. Hopefully we will be able to reach a lot of owners that way.

Mike,
you are correct! Just got 3 letters from Discount Tire (one for each truck and the Casita)
They simply say there is a recall on valve stems..etc etc.

Hi: All... I had all 3 tire stems replaced $10.00 a tire! Cheap insurance I thought. They still didn't admit there was a recall... but the installer cut the base of the stems off and put them on his bench. HMMMMM???

I chatted with my tire shope people soon after this issue became public.

We heve the metal stems in all our wheels anyway so I REALLY wasn't THAT concerned till my buddy, T.J. remarked "well, what do you think is between your metal stems and your mag wheels ....RUBBER and prolly of the same 'quality' too" .....

I mentioned it in the other stem thread going on and I'll mention it here -- What really counts is the psi rating for the stem, not necessarily the material -- Usually the metal stems are the high ratings, but that's not always so.

BTW, I suspect that a little 303 Proctectant on the stems would be a good thing to preserve the rubber bases and seals.
