In Germany, they camp indoors...

Check out this article about a new hotel in Germany that has indoor trailers:

Indoor caravan park offers camping experience with a twist | Metro.co.uk

Actually, in these days of $4 gas it might be an idea worth copying. Clear out the garage, dig out the plastic Christmas trees, and set up the fake fire. To give the kids a thrill, have a guy come around in a bear suit and go "Raaarrrrrrrr".

Yes, no fresh air AND no real camp fires! And no nice trails, lakes, etc nearby!!! No sounds of night-active birds. No funny raccoon stories. And isn't the possibility of rain one of the big reasons many of us in particular enjoy our fiberglass eggs?

Hey, to make it complete they need to turn a bear or two loose at night.

Haa, that's awesome. Though as a hotel in Berlin I don't think they exactly mean it to provide an authentic camping experience. It's like a novelty hotel along the lines of Sweden's ice hotel.

City folks want to camp too. This is a great idea! How do you subdivide an industrial building without cutting up an old historic building?

I sent this to my sister who is scared of woods and terrified of bears, and she loved it. It's her style of camping .... if it had a Starbucks and shops, too.

I told her that's the roughing part of it... she'd have to go out on the street for shopping.
