Inappropriate Ads

I am getting some inappropriate ads on this web site. They just started. There is no way to get rid of them. I live alone and never visit sexual web sites, no one else uses my computer. I have deleted all cookies & cleaned my computer. I do not understand this and find it offensive. I see other ads that are Okay. Can the administrator help me with this problem? Thanks so much.

funny you mentioned that as I saw the listing for your post I saw some cartoon anime porn under a n ad for etrailer...I certainly wasn't on anime porn sites lol I think its just companies trying to get you to click their link and spend money on their site.

I, too, am getting borderline porn ads. Not appreciated. They need to go away ... or I will.

Upper right corner of the banner ad at the top of the screen is a little arrow if you hover your mouse over it mine says AdChoices...I clicked it and went to Ads settings, then scrolled down to interests and removed all of them then went to the opt out option and chose to opt out...its not a permanent fix...that anime porn game site probably popped up because I play video games and must have done a search and it popped up somehow...it sucks sometimes but I don't think there is much you can honestly do about it.

Thanks Fred, and Deryk I don't play video games so I do not understand and have been to ad choices as well. I am sure the administrator will help as this is the nicest club on the web.

You do have the right to block ads on your computer. Unfortunately this is also how many sites fund themselves, receiving money for each click on the ad. It's a bit of a toss up.
I use Adblock. https://chrome.google.com/webstore/search/adblock?hl=en It's very reputable. It has a function to allow ads for selected websites, so you can see those new and interesting products. However if a site has offensive ads I feel no guilt in blocking them.
You may also get use to the clutter free browsing experience.

Hmmmmm

It's my understanding that ads are more or less customized for each user, which prolly explains why I presently see promos for Geritol, support stockings, and help-I've-fallen-and-can't-get-up alarm systems.

What am I doing wrong?

I've been getting those stupid ads too.
The only thing I look at are guitar centers and amazon.
There are three guitars at the top of my screen right now.
I have no idea where those game porn things come from.
I don't play video games nor do I even play those stupid
games that come on most computers.

You guys must be using the newer 2.0 screen, nothing here on the old style?

When I was viewing this website on my Kindle the other day, all the ads were in Chinese. Not sure what that was all about and since I don't speak/read/write Chinese, I don't know if it was offensive or not ;-)

Exactly! Love the old default skin. No ads (ever) and much easier on the eyes.

Sharon, change the skin. IF/when the default skin disappears or no longer works, THAT'S when I WILL GO AWAY. Better to do that than lose my eyesight.

These ad's are one of the liabilities of a "free" forum. In order to defray operating costs, the owners will "sell" space. On the "for pay" forums, we do not have such. Something to think about.

Just a Heads Up about unwanted/offensive ads

NEVER click on the links in these ads that promise to stop them in the future. As a result you:

Are confirming that you are a valid address and can be added to yet another list.
and/or
May be inviting a virus in through a back door, some of which can shut you down and demand a ransom to be cleared (and don't anyway)

Several sources name adult sites as the #1 source of virus attacks.

While the price of freedom can sometimes seem high, the cost of censorship is even higher.

On my desktop computer, I use Firefox with Adblocker and very rarely see any ads. On my IPad with Safari, I seem to get more ads.

I get only directed ads. I wonder if erasing cookies or preventing them prevents directed ads and then some people who do that get inappropriate ads?
