Trailer: 2005 19 ft Scamp 19 ft 5th Wheel

Sooooooo Lynne wants a new toy.
Something to keep her occupied when she retires. ==>
Like a trailer she can decorate.
The Scamp 5th wheel we have won't do . . .
Something smaller please.
Easier to tow.
Lighter.
Small
er
.
So Lynne finds a Surfside to play with.
But who hauls 450 miles up to Vancouver Island, then back to get it?
Did I mention the trailer doesn't have a heater?
And what did the drive home look like?
You know I must be crazy about this woman to have done this!
Back to the trailer. It needs some TLC and repairs, but it's a good trailer. I'll post more pics when I have decent weather.

So, are you bringing the Surfside or the 5th wheel to NOG? Wait, NOG is in April... better have a heater!

This Lynne's trailer to work on. Since she hasn't done a whole lot of woodworking or other DIY projects in the past my main job this time will be to help with the planning and showing her the how-tos. So this trailer goes into storage until Lynne retires. (Sometime next year?) 'Bout all I plan to do on the Surfside before then is pull the frame, clean, inspect, repair and repaint it and re-pack the axle bearings.

Oh, yea. And install new gas lines and a heater. The gas lines run under the trailer, through a hole the frame, so I have disconnect them when I pull the frame. Since the trailer has no heater anymore I may as well install new gas lines and a heater when I re-install them.

Good luck with your project. Unit looks pretty good. I also drove home in poor weather from the coast when i picked up my trailer. I found it scary at times.

A great deal of tidying and re-arranging has been done in my shop space. It was a mess. Crowded, disorganized, bits and pieces from several past projects that I haven't thrown away because they could be useful in repairing or extending said project.
Now the shop has been tidied up, but it is once again crowded.
And now the fun begins!

Looks like a fun project, Lynn and Peter. Nice trailer.
Really nice kitchen, Scott. I like how you used the kitchen space, and love the stovetop and panel for the fridge. Great job!

We haven't made any final decisions about our trailer's final layout yet, but some things are decided: like having a permanent bed in the back and a dinette up front. This floor plan is generally where we're heading.

Looks like a really great layout Peter! One question, do you already have a water heater? If not, I'd move it to the other side of the trailer... same side as the sink. Easier to plumb, shorter waterlines to winterize, and freshwater fills would be on the same side as hose bibs in parks.

Still thinking about the hot water heater . . . not sure whether that makes an appearance or not, and not sure what size.
We put the water tank on the curb side because all our other heavy stuff -- microwave, 'fridge, heater, sink, stove, portapot -- are on the street side. We're also toying with the ideal of putting a (50 lbs) A/C in the curbside pantry cabinet, which would go a fair bit of the distance to balancing the weight, too. Might allow us to move it back to the other side.
