interesting concepts

If you are a full timer and not ready to give up the camping life style as you age, this might be an option for later on.

RV lifestyle. The nonprofit Escapees CARE in Livingston, Texas, allows its 50 to 70 residents to live in their own RVs while receiving significant adult day care services. For $850 per month for a single resident or $1,275 monthly for a couple, residents receive three meals per day, transportation to medical appointments and help with bathing, cleaning and laundry. "We are a very cost-effective solution to aging baby boomers that wish to live independently as long as they can," says Russ Johnson, the facility director for Escapees CARE. "Living in their RV on our campus keeps the costs low and they don't have to give up treasured possessions to fit in a tiny room in a facility, plus they have their own patio to invite friends over for a cookout."

It costs less than assisted living around here. terry r.

That sounds like a great idea. Going to look into it more, thanks.

That could be a nice option.

You're own home, yard, neighbors, etc.
For one, just the meals would be $9.45 each.
For two, meals would be $7.08 each.

That gives free lot rent and free transportation.

My aunt was paying over $4,000 a month to the nursing home before she died.

My father's care is over $10k/month, but that's for 24/7 care. Seems like a nice setup they've got going, great option for fulltimers. Probably see more of these situations as the population ages.

Livingston is in East Texas, and Yes, you would like it....4 seasons(not to hot or cold nice amount or rain) nice lake for fishing, very friendly people.Good doctors and hospitals.

You should make a trip to Texas at least 4 times a year( catch all 4 seasons) BUT be advised....once you come to Texas you never want to leave.

Oh and IF you are a beleaver in "Big Foot"(Yetis;Sasquatch ) he has been sighted just a few miles from the Escapees Campgrounds,in the deep part of "The Big Thicket" toward Jasper. There is a research group( of real scientist ) that that have been working on finding just what has been sighted there for oh lets just say....all my life.

Escapees is a good group with a big membership and well cared campground. They were founded in Livingston and have done lots of good for their membership and the area.

Oh I have never been a member and don't work for them.....but I am a "True Born TEXAN" and grew up in East Texas. So if you come this way send word and we will met you somewhere for some coffee.

All daily meals, housekeeping, dr transport, laundry/hygiene assistance, and pad to park on at that price. Yeah, I'd head down there when I need a little help. It'd be interesting to see if there will be more of these kind of services cropping up, demand will surely be growing for it in the years to come.

Hi: Francesca Knowles... "All my X's live in TEXAS"!!! LoL
Alf S. North shore of Lake Erie p.s. I believe there's a mem. fee and an initial buy in up front that's costly, and probably a waiting list too!!!

According to their website, there is a membership fee of $60/year. There is no buy in, and the monthly rate is charged on month in advance. Because of the come-and-go-as-you-need nature of the place, I would guess that the waiting list or lack thereof could vary quite a bit at different times.

We're escapees and have visited the Care Center. Escapees donate time and funds to support the center. They also have activities for the people there, a house for relatives to stay at when visiting. Really a neat place.

Many Escapees volunteer here.
