Love this quote in the ad "Stove and propane were removed to save weight".

OK, right, thats why all the extra wood is added with the roof, barrel out front, etc. Its all about saving weight.....

Seriously, I hope the frame has been beefed up a lot.

Love this quote too,"modified by a carpenter/artist" This guy would never work on my house or even paint a doghouse for me.

Hard to tell the quality of the work but if that thing goes down the road and doesn't drop pieces.... someone did something right. Not exactly my style but I can see some folks I know liking it.

Back then (late 70's) the frames were I think lighter than they are on later models. Not 100% sure on that but believe that to be the case. I wouldn't add a bike carrier to the back without beefing up the frame on my 77.

Funny thing is, it probably would be worth more resale money without all the add-ons.

I ask myself: if the conversion was so great, why didn't He keep it? Nice to look at and talk about, not so hot for travel and camping.

Chasing this link from Glenn, it WAS originally for "Burning Man" based on Jay's story. That's the wildest Scamp 13' I've seen to date. Dont care for it.

I think this RV looks pretty neat. It kind of has that gypsy vardo look to it. It might not be everybody's cup of tea but you know what they say, different strokes for different folks.

I could see it being a big hit in some places. I can't see it going down the road at 70, 60, 55 mph. Aerodynamic it ain't.

Paul looked at it...his comment: "No...no. No. I don't think so. Uh-uh. No."

The 70s me likes it, kinda...the today me says WE modified our amerigo to save weight...but that didn't mean we then added on a whole other wooden roof.

Thanks for posting it--VERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRY interesting!

BEST

A friend at Camp who has a 30' class C refers to my Campster as the Gypsy wagon. Maybe is should get this for camp.

Yah, I don't think so.

Hey, Dave,

Yah, I hear you!

I love your Campster...but we've liked them since we first saw one.

We used to call Peanut the "egg carton," being more square than the usual eggs...yours is more square, too. Some things are easier that way.

I agree the aerodynamics would kill it for me to tug it down the road. It was fun watching Jay build it here on FiberglassRV and he did take it to Burning Man, which was his goal. It's my understanding, he's selling (it sold), so he can build something else.

I think if I had property, I'd put it on that as a "she shed"! Or maybe a guest cottage. Because it was once a travel trailer, doesn't mean it has to always be a travel trailer...

Hi, DonnaD, yes, it'd be cute sitting somewhere appropriate. A She Shed. Paul uses Peanut nearly every day to sit in and read--no phones, no pool, no pets...just a window on the world past the driveway, privacy, his own little kitchenette...he loves it. Why not? It's a bonus that we get to roll it new places sometimes.

The maxim that I try to go with and have passed on to my children is, "Just because you can, doesn't mean you should!" Still, to each his own.

Hey, Rudy, dang, I had thought about using that name, Your Highness, but I was too shy! Good for you!

Good maxim, "Just because you can doesn't mean you should." As you said, to each his own--and, as we say here, YMMV--your mileage may vary.
