On Thursday I head south to meet Vic at Lambert's Cafe, in Sikeston, MO for the handoff and good eats. What could be better????

You can consider this your fair warning. I will be towing for the first time with the Jeep.

I'm taking the camera and will get pictures.

Isn't that the "Home of the Throwed Rolls"?

Yes, Lambert's is the home of the throwed rolls.

Ed, I will be happy to let ya take a gander. Not much to see just yet, tho.

In a little over 12 hours now.

Wink

Saga begins. Leave home. Get money. Stop by Camper Exchange and get towing mirrors I didn't need and a pair of chocks. Hit the road.

Man, it was toasty to day. With the windows unzipped and running down the road it was aright, but boy if I had to stop or slow down. 95-98 F!

Made it to Sikeston ahead of Vic, so I returned his call (which I got, but couldn't hear in the Jeep). He was still about 1/2 hour out, so I checked out the outlet mall just up the street until he called.

Walked through and around the Play Pac. 13 foot FG eggs are the cutest things. It has running lights! And They work! Woo hoo.

I have a couple of pictures of Vic checking a faulty tail light. Turns out it's the Jeep's fault. I need a better flasher controller, or whatever it's called. The nice people at RV America (right up the street, so to speak, from Lamberts) checked things out and didn't charge me. Bought the stabilizing jacks for the trailer there.

The Play Pac/Jeep combo towed and pulled without any sway or struggle. Get this! On the first leg of the trip home, I cruised at about 60 mpg and when I filled the tank at the 2/3 mark; I got better gas mileage towing the egg, then I do without it. Is that weird or what? The trip down was 15 mpg; the 1st leg back was 18 mpg and the last leg was a dismal 11 mpg.

I'll post pictures tomorrow. I'm pooped.

Is it possible because you're going slower when pulling the trailer and that's the Tug's sweet spot

Congrats Bonnie!

Okra was fantastic. The mac and tomatoes was unbelievable. I'm back and recovered, sort of. So, pm me and let me play show the play pac.

As promised. Pictures:

Play Pac As Purchased

The fiberglass is barely showing any oxidation or pitting. Now that I have it in my possession; I'm gonna start asking questions!

Have fun! I am almost sorry that our UHaul is finished. It is fun to redo these.
And Lambert's at Sikeston is great! I always made my baseball coach hubby sit where he could catch them. Once I told them not to throw them. They gave me the hardest time.

Whoo-hoo, Bonnie! Congrats on finally getting your Egg to its "nesting place", and on a safe journey home. Looks like a super unit and you will have soooo much fun making it YOUR OWN! Please post pics of your progress - you know how we all love photos!

Hope our travel paths will cross in the future. Safe travels and year of building happy memories! L 'n D

That's a nice looking shell. Congratulations!
What year is it from? Did the previous owner gut the interior?
That's half the work, if you ask me!
Have fun!

Thank you one an all for the kind posts.

Plamer M.,

73. Gutted by two owner's back.

Been having great fun plotting and planning. It's too hot to wax the outside and the heat index is brutal here right now. So, until I get the window ac rigged; I'm stuck waiting for the weather to break.

Our UHaul is finished? I think not! The finish is still a bit dull, the fiberglass nicks need to be fixed, the frame needs painting, the brakes need work, etc. Perhaps my wife means the inside is done and looks nice. I don't believe the outside is ever done!
