Have you considered a Poliglow or Red Max treatment to put the shine back on? That might be easier.

The trouble is, the longer I look at it, the more it seems that you are towing the sub backwards. Like the propeller should be on the pin.

I wish I could do something like that. The biggest problem isn't the shine it is that it is 28 years old and sat under some type of tree neglected in Oregon for a number of years. Anything that could rust did and sunk into the paint as well as mold, bird poop, etc. Barkeepers best friend didn't even make an iota of difference. I did find this Marine stuff for taking water lines and rust off of hulls that actually worked, but the effort involved in cleaning an entire 19' 5th wheel would be enormous. It took hours just to do where the hooks hold the bug cover on the front.

For the price of a paint job, you may be able to pay someone to commercially clean the surface.
Not that a yellow submarine wouldn't look cool.

Actually all these "plastic bubbles" look like little subs. Instead of "Land Yachts" like the big motorhomes are known we can be "Land Subs" or "mini subs". LOL!

I would never pay for a paint job. I used to be a hobbiest car restorer.

A really good marien fiberglass compound from 3M and a power buffer would help but as you say it does take a time - but it does work.

The secert word is......(work) We have done lots of compound work and lots of sand and prep work to paint all types of cars, trucks,& campers even.
If it was for myself I would skip the compound & power buffer and go stright to the wet & dry sandpaper to get it prepped to be a yellow submarien.
I have decided that I am to the age now that I have always thought of having" some special to me something"...then Dog Gone It I am going to have it.( besides the grandsons( 7 & 11) would love it,grand daughter(18)would laugh and not care anyway. Right now I ride a BRIGHT Orange bike.....we are talking safetyvest orange here....it was love it at first sight and I had no plans to buy a new bike!
Happy Camping and Happy Planning
