Wink

Just got back from Backus with new Scamp.
Pardon me if I pass out.
All went well and as soon as I recover I will
post factory pictures.
The factory is really nice. There were 20 or so
trailers in the lot ready for pick up and another
20 or so in the assembly line.
I spent the first night in the trailer, in a rest stop.
It was a cold frosty night 12 degrees F.
But I stayed nice and toasty in the trailer.
Please excuse me I am going to crash on the sofa.
More later
John

Congradulations! Did you have to travel through the snow storm all the way home?
It is just to cold to camp here in Minnesota at the moment. I was out in the camper on Friday putting the newest thing away (6X6X6 POP UP SCREEN TENT) and was dreaming about a soon to be camp out. However over the weekend we got over a foot of snow, and more to come this week. Camping will be a ways off for us northerners.

I am especially interested in the info you have....I pick up my new 13 Scamp on March 22, traveling from SW Florida....it's going to be some trip...I am monintoring the weather to see if I can make it through or have to wait until all the snow goes away. Congratulations John. Our 16' is one of those either done or under construction and we can't wait to get our hands on it. Were you able to finish setting up your WDH by yourself when you got there? Were the folks in Bachus helpful? What are you towing with?

Hi
I don't need a WDhitch with a 13'
My tv is a 2000 Ford Ranger
3.0L engine 5spd manual trans.
4.10 rear end
245 75 16" tires.
tow package with bigger springs.
I could put the trailer in the truck bed
and still carry 600lbs more.
No sway whatsoever!
The folks in Backus were very nice,
but I would advise all to read every thing
that you could in this forum and in the
Yahoo Scamp Group. Especially about the door.
I was very lucky the bad weather came
the day after I left Backus.
John
PS: They shure put a lot corn (ethanol--corn juice) in

Just my opinion, but I think a WDH on a Scamp is not only overkill but a bad idea.

The purpose of a weight distributing hitch is to move the point of tow balance aft. You're about to leave the factory with a brand-new well engineered trailer and presume to alter the hitch point?

Ask for a sway bar. Those things are great.
Leave the WDH (and all it's commiserrate hardware) at the factory.

Just sayin'...
