Kai in Seattle

Just read your post of July 13th
We use paper plates made from straw and cornstarch silverware, in the hope they'll be easier on the environment.
Do you have a link? DH absolutely refuses for to use anything but disposable plates and bowls- both at home and in the camper.

Here's a link to some biodegradable "silverware" made from wood.
And a link to some biodegradable bowls.

Hi, we order them from Walmart when I order other things. We try to use each one at least twice. Our son first introduced us to highly-compressed cornstarch silverware back when he worked at Microsoft and they had them available for all the employees...they are surprisingly nice. He told us if you're really hungry, you can soak 'em and eat 'em. My feelings about that were, "ICK." But about using them, "Yaay!"

My DH is the chief cook and bottle-washer on camping trips, so I like to keep it easier for him when I can.

Going to check Radar1's links above...Walmart is easy; order over $35 and you get free shipping. Well, here in western WA state we do.

Kai

The key word at Walmart seems to be "eco friendly" followed by "cutlery" or "plates" or "bowls" to start your search. They seem to have gone to more wooden cutlery rather than cornstarch...I guess their stock changes over time.

Radar1 and Mitzi:

Radar1's first link is to "bamboodlers," and is awesome. More than just the silverware and includes "bagasse" -- sugarcane?--dishes etc. It's very attractive and a nice variety.

The other link is seriously for bowls, more sizes and types than I thought possible.

Good links. Do also try Walmart and play around with the search function? They have them. To start, in the search box, put in eco friendly followed by cutlery or dishes, etc.

BEST,

"K"
