KoolerGel - Anyone used it?

I ran across this stuff KoolerGel that you can use to make your own ice packs that supposedly last longer than ice. I immediately thought, "Hey, maybe I can make a custom shape and size to take up most of the space in the top section of the Scamp icebox!" Wondering if anyone has used it or done this. Wondering how much it weighs compared to water, & if it's any lighter weight.

Have't tried it, but it certainly got rave reviews. On a related note, I bought two commercial gel packs for dogs and used them on my recent cross country trip in their car crates. Worked like a dream.
