Bob, we felt the same way, and left Michigan in 1985. Did you catch the moon rise the other night?

Polar Vortex....Arctic Express...Winter Blob...call it what you want...negative 25 with the wind is too cold for just the middle of December. In Maine we call it Dern Cold
As far as Arizona goes, reminds me of a story:
Brother visited there once in the summer and was told not to worry about the heat...All informants saying "it's dry heat...Dry heat...Dry Heat"

Brother got home and when asked if he was bothered by the "Dry Heat" and.
His reply was.... "DRY HEAT,They can kiss my wet A--"

You are looking at 75 deg (Warm Weather) .
Here in Wisconsin we are looking at 25 below zero with 40 to 50 below windchills and preceding the cold 6" to 12 " of snow.
According to the locals , it is God's way of leveling things out ,so that no one area gets all his / her blessings.

When I worked on Minnesota's Iron Range we had 56 below zero one morning and we had 40 straight days when the temps never got above zero. . The record is 62 or 64 below at Embarrass Mn.
This cold snap is predicted to be short lived with temps returning to the 20's next week.
I have plenty of firewood and got the snowblower running this morning so I am all set. I have 100 lbs of sausage to make for Christmas and my outdoor freezer is working well.
It's really not that bad because it is a DRY cold.

Happy Holidays

I can remember one year, about the very late '90's...the sled dog nationals in Michigan were canceled that year. No snow.

Sounds like you're all set......that sausage sure sounds good! I still say....WOW...that's cold. Your dry cold comment reminds me of a manager I had in Tempe Az. years ago.....it was 123 deg. outside and I made a comment about how hot it was.....he said...."Yea but it's a dry heat." I told him......"so was sticking my head in an oven but I didn't like that either!"
Stay warm.....happy holidays!

I got to tell you, Walking across the deck this morning, to the hot tub at -15 is bad enough and sitting in the 101 degree water was fine but that 12 foot sprint back into the house, OMG...you want to make sure you don't let the metal storm door hit you in the butt or you'll stick.
