Leonids and Joshua tree NP

Last year at this time we were camped at Indian Cove campground in Joshua tree NP. As some of you may know this place sports large piles of giant rocks that fully surround the area and thus keeps any syray light from entering from nearby habitaions.

On this night it was clear as a bell and we spent much of the evening out sitting in our chairs watching the leonid Meterior shower.

What a sight! This was one of the highlights of our 12,000 winter trip last winter.

Then there was the time on the Oregon coast road when we got out to sightsee and the dog stepped om the electric door lock. You can guess where the keys were------- win some, lose some.

Joshua tree is so nice. I used to tent camp there and bring my telescope, wife and I really enjoyed it there, then you have the nice hiking in the day.

We've camped at Jumbo Rock and Cotton Wood Springs. Since Joshua Tree is long ways from an major light pollution the meteor showers should be great.
The hike around Hidden Valley is nice but lots of people.
We should be there at the end of January or early February.

We have never made it to Joshua Tree Nat'l Park, but have always wanted to stop there. We pass by it several times a year, normally without the trailer. Someday........maybe we'll plan a trip there.

I've enjoyed our stops and overnights at City of Rocks State Park in New Mexico. But it is rather small in size compared to Joshua Tree, I believe. Without any Joshua Trees as well. Ha!
