Tongue weight

Tongue weight is an important number and thanks for providing it.

As I read your post a Lil SNoozy with a Honda Generator weighs 274 #s.

What does the trailer weigh?

Does the tongue/trailer weight include a full or partially full water tank? empty fridge? ......

Are you describing an empty for the road trailer?

Thanks for clarification

Hey Norm,
Usually they come out with the options I stated around 1980. We are trying to pin it down but it is getting lighter with our new frame and body. We are just wating to get the latest cabinets because we have added drawers in the entertainment center which will add some to it before we publish a final empty weight and tounge weight. Water tank usually has maybe five gallon in it for testing for possible leaks. Refidge is always empty. Water heater is always full.

Sounds like a sub-200 lb tongue is very achievable with this trailer. It could be a good Subaru tow candidate.

Sadly Subaru no can do. Trailer with no owners food or belongings in it with a Tongue of 274lbs less a 46lb generator = 228lbs

Hey Old Man Snoozy, sure glad to see you read these forums too. Hope to come see you soon. People are starting to look at our 5th wheel, so hope we sell it soon. Really want to see all the upgrades and changes you made. Glad to see you made the kitchen cupbards bigger. We have looked at other FGTT, but we always come back to the Lil Snoozy as it looks like it will fit our needs the best.

Remember it was stated that the tongue weight can be further reduced by moving the spare tire from under the bed to a rear-wall mount, or by adding a bike rack to the rear, or both. In other words, there are things one can do to get it under 200 lbs. With careful loading it's a possibility.

Switching to the lighter Fiberglass propane tank helps too. I believe it weighs half what a steel tanks weighs.

You are both correct there are a number of ways to reduce the tongue weight but until we start seeing some real world total weights on the trailer, it is not possible to say one way or another how low you can actually take the tongue before it becomes unsafe and the trailer starts wagging the tow.
