Some interesting ideas here. We have used the foam floor tiles in a tent - we also use a rubber mat outside the door and another in the vestibule to catch sand and gravel. Thanks for posting it here - I will be pasing it on!

Yes the Mountain Dew did taste kinda funny afterwards... Just didn't want to see anybody else waste their time and money on something like that. It seem like a really cool ideal to me. I did like and plan on trying a few of the other things on that list. Thank you for sharing.

Thanks for sharing.........some of the things I have seen before,some were new to me.I plane to try some of them,I had seen the mountain dew one and had thought about giving it a try this summer with the grandsons. Glad someone said "don't waste time & money on it" .Those grandsons already think grandma comes up with some "silly stuff" don't need to add to their "crazy ole lady list" ....LOL...really the kids are great,but ofcourse it is always better when things work.

Did that .....that was one of their "you are so silly" stories to their folks...They said( the GK)guess what? now she wants us to use a stick for a toothbrush! They are fun boys and will do anything Amma( their word for garndma) shows them to do,even IF they think it is silly/crazy. Now every camping trip they have to make their own toothbrush as soon as we get camp set up.

DH and I like to share with them things from our past as well as things their mom's did when they were little.We also try to have some type of "new" idea for them to try( mountian dew trick) most of the time my new tricks don't come out so good...LOL!

OK, try this. Pick up a couple bicycle wheels at a thrift store. Remove the tires and spokes, hub so there is nothing left but the rim. Get them a stick ( not the one for the toothbrush ). You place the stick in the groove of the rim and chase around after it, steering it with the stick.
They can tell people they used to do it when they lived in Africa.

I played with a hoop once as a kid in London. On that occasion a relative lent me his, but I recall that it wasn't as easy as he made it look!
