Long Long Trailer - FREE BOOK

We watched the Long Long Trailer last night. It gets better every time we watch it. Having visited the RV Hall Of Fame in Indiana a week or so ago it was fun to spot the trailers that we'd seen at the museum. When I went to the Wiki page, I found a link to a FREE DOWNLOAD of the book. Sweet!

I saw the movie when it came out in the theater. Many years later borrowed the book and read it. Then I tried to watch the movie on tv and didn't like it at all. Probably because in reading the book my imagination was way beyond the visuals in the movie. Same reasom Fibber Mcgee's closet on tv was a flop. Couldn't match imagination hearing the radio show. If you don't remember the radio show you're likely way younger than I am.

I'm in an Old Time Radio performing group. In Fibber' I play Gildersleeve. It's a hoot when we do the closet bit. We've got a step ladder with all sorts of junk on it. When it's time for the closet, over goes the ladder! Of course, the end of THAT is a metal plate spinning to a stop. The crowd goes nuts!

I'll write up a review of the book after I read it. I'll be loading it onto my PADD (for you Star Trek fans!) this afternoon.

I assume you are referring to the movie with Lucy and Desi Arnez. Have you seen the website and blog titled the Long, Long Honeymoon? It's quite clever and fun! LongLongHoneymoon.com | Tips for Airstream / RV travelers..

I downloaded the free Nook computer app and this book is also free through Barnes and Noble. Thanks very much for suggesting it... Very funny.

Digger O'dell was the "friendly undertaker" in "The life of Riley." William Bendix was Chester A. Riley. Gotta be an old fart to know about riley, Gildersleeve, etc. I qualify.

Finished it over the weekend! It's much, much, better than the movie. It was fun seeing where the movie writer melded episodes out of the book into movie scenes.

Thanks! Several years ago I looked for a hard copy version. Not easy to find and $$$. I downloaded this to my kindle. Off camping this week - perfect bedtime reading!

I didnt open it, I just saved it to my download files. I would assume you can do the same.

If you send me a private email I can attach and send to you. This board wont accept that format. Firefox gave me the option to open with Windows or download in the Kindle format.

good luck

I saved the pdf version onto my laptop. I'll be reading it this weekend. Someday, will get into the Kindle generation. Thinking now of free book downloads, I'll have to go looking for more.

SINGLE click on Kindle and save to your local device. Or, you can save it as a PDF to your box and open it with that (I think).
