Interesting. We presently have a backup camera in our trailer. We use it to replace the extended outside mirrors. We have it on all the time without any apparent problems, we simply wired it into 12 volts at the rear of the trailer.

We plan to get a better camera to use with our new tow vehicle wondering if we can tie it into the Odyssey's screen, if not we'll add another display.

When we first installed the a rear camera we focused on price, not knowing very much and even if it would meet our needs. This year we visited Fry's electronics in Phoenix where they had a multiple camera display and it was obvious that they had better cameras and displays than the one we choose.

There are wireless systems that use a "slip-over" mirror for your stock front rear view mirror. Work good - installing one in our new Escape 21.
