Make your own potti

Here's a novel idea for a home made potti.

A bucket, milk crate, and toilet lid.

Looks easier to use than the night time "slop jar" we used at night, as a kid in WV. Oh, the more sophisticated among us called it a chamber pot.

Any way you look at it, it was better than hauling out to go to the outhouse at 2:00 am.

When I was a kid, we had a slop bucket for night time and we
used a 1 X 4 across one side to help with the function.

I'm always concerned with just a bucket being pretty heavy with bad knees.
This looks like it would add some stability. May make one for the deer woods.

Carl, it's nice you posted the link. But I bought a fully self-contained trailer for a reason... and this DIY version is ONE of those reasons.

LOL

Me too. But I realize there are still those still in tents, etc.
I had one of those foldable thingies and it's not fun when you
fill the bag and the chair collapses under you...........LOL.

I won't take my Snoozy to the deer woods.
Where we go on government land it's hard enough to twist
between the trees with a vehicle.

I figure if I can stand on a milk crate, I should be able to sit on one......LOL

I need to measure the bucket and crate size to see if I can install it on the hitch. Lol

Carl,
On behalf of all egg owners without built-in bathrooms I'd like to tell you thanks for posting the link. I enjoy reading about solutions to situations shared by many of us.

The milk crate solution may not be the most elegant but it beats peeing behind the trailer after dark.

Shirley

Those are the one's I was thinking of.
And also a solution for me in the deer woods.
Looks like a stable a fairly cheap fix........lol

I have a thetford cassette but may like to have a shower tent
for my outside shower and a make shift bathroom................

My burro has a porta-potti, which I have not used. How do people handle the waste disposal, can it go into a regular dumpster? Do you use the special waste bags from the camping section if the store, regular trash bags or what. Please forgive the indelicate nature of my questions, but I am ramping up for full-timing, and am mainly boon docking.

With the Thetford Cassette toilet you just remove the tank,
dump it down a commode or dump station and put back in place.
I think you do the same with a porta-potti?

The waste bag version is another story.
If you're out in the woods, you can dig a hole and bury after it's
all said and done. May just depend on how politically correct and
green (tree hugger) a person is.

Others may have better answers.
