Males/Females and 'the end of the road'

Ginny and I enjoy driving to 'the end of the road'. In Newfoundland it typically means driving to these little outport towns that until recently (in my lifetime) were only serviced by boats, basically closed communities of a few families. However these roads exist every where.

One of the poster's suggested there may be an 'end of the road' attitude difference between men and women. If you have a comment please post it.

His words follow but anything about your experience at the end of the road may be interesting to others.

I think we men more often say "I want to drive to the end" when the other half says "It's the end there, turn around!"
Along those lines - I always say "If I can drive in there, I should be able to back out of there." That is in theory, of course.

May all your endings be beginnings....

Funny. A picture of the end of the road might save a lot of people a need to go there.

My grandpa had your attitude. Once, memorably, he drove our station wagon full of kids followed by our sedan (also full of kids, plus three adults) at the end of a dead end Sierra Nevada logging road without a turnaround. About 500 feet below us, the river. Other side of the road, cliff, straight up.

He was looking for a good fishing spot. He really liked to fish.

Jim,

Fortunately in Newfoundland the turn around is usually easy though I've been to a couple of the end of the roads where with the motorhome one could not turn around without disconnecting.

I suppose there's the end of the one's personal road, yikes.....

Kay, definitely like that image. I know that some men have to fish. It most have taken a lot of line to reach the river.

Many Newfoundland crabbers lay their crab pots down 1200 feet, now that's a length of rope (line). During this year's parade of icebergs they lost most of their crab pots and rope and lots and lots of rope.

I bought a beat up corvette convertible car in Utah in 1982 and instead of taking the interstate drove in some state road from Salt Lake area SE towards Ft Worth. There were a few barricades that warned if washed out sections. These go worse and worse. Finally the road just ended. I got out and looked down to a river 200' below me. It me was the end of the road and if not for the washed out sections slowing my down it wouldn't have been blinds but curtains for me.
